Ubisoft have a new racing game – The Crew – coming out in the near future and while the genre appears to be quite cramped Ubisoft feel they are offering something unique that will help them succeed. I’ve played the game and it’s a lot of fun and if the game ends up being as good as the preview then it likely will do very well indeed.
Well that’s what I thought before I saw the insane pricing that Ubisoft may be testing out in Europe right now.According to some investigation by dualshockers the next gen versions of The Crew are currently available for pre-order from Gamestop for an incredible €100, or R1417 in local currency.
My first thought was that this was simply a retailer getting the price wrong but this price is repeated in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Not the exact price mind you, they are all a few cents apart which make it look less like a placeholder price. In fact the German and Italian Gamestops are already accepting pre-orders at that price.
Locally I can’t find anyone listing a price for The Crew but if this new pricing is true I can’t see any other outcome than a massive failure for Ubisoft’s The Crew.

However it’s not all doom and gloom right now as UPlay has the titled listed for a more reasonable €70, however that still works out to R1044. Now remember what I was saying about game prices going through the roof locally. Depressing isn’t it

ps plus gives you either games nobody is buying, games that suck, or the games that are good that they give you are usually less then 20$ at gamestop. they have one good month feb. every year that packs tons of games in that get left in the store the entire year. you break about even or slightly more if you were to buy those games without plus. unless you have a vita as well then you make out a little. i have close to 300 games, have had ps plus since day 1 and about 100 of those games i have no interest in playing more then 5 minutes they just start taking up space lol

Disagree, new PC titles cost roughly 60% of their console counterparts. When games cost over R1000 I stop buying new titles. This move will increase piracy exponentially as well. I personally have not played a pirate game for several years but will not pay these prices should they prove to be accurate. Fortunately I have my Steam backlog to work through while these crooks put themselves out of business.
The PS4 lineup on PS+ will be crap for another year or so as there aren’t that many games to play yet so you’re best off with a PS3 and a PS+ account.

thats for sure. i have a ps4 and ps3 and im not buying ps4 stuff until theres something that really really looks great which wont be for a while. otherwise its used ps3 games for me. ive never had a xbox so when the consoles and stuff get way out of control i know i can get a xbox360 and have tons of used games for cheap to fall back on when i wanna go that route instead of these ridiculous prices and gouging they are going to be pulling in next gen.

You Can Build a decent PC for the same price as a PS4…. And the games are cheaper, even at launch. If you really want that console experience, Plug in a PS3 or Xbox360 controller, and run Steam in Big picture mode (you can even set it to auto launch on start-up) There is NO reason to play on console in this country with the ridiculous Game prices.
Oh and you CAN add non-steam games into your Steam Library… so you don’t even need to ONLY buy on steam…
ONLY buy a console, if you NEED to play Exclusives….
