Is this what next-gen racing games will look like?

Here’s an interesting video that was forced upon me by petrolhead Nick de Bruyne, showing driver Leh Keen Piloting a Porsche 911 GT3 around Nurburgring in some pretty damned poor conditions. the interesting thing about the video is that it’s done using "Driver’s Eye,” which gives it that first-person, cockpit view that so many of us love in racing games.

And it actually looks like fancy CGI, instead of reality. Besides showing how mental this guy is, it could also give us a pretty good look at what future racing games might look like as they strive for photorealism – and more realistic physics.

Compare that, for example, with this (reported!) footage of Gran Turismo 6 running on a PlayStation 3. So is that what we can expect from the future of racing games? Probably not, because for some reason, half the racing developers seem to be taking the cockpit view out of their games. I’m looking at you, Grid 2!

So you’re saying that the answer is definitely ‘no’, if this video is anything to go by
