Contrary to the expression “there are no new things under the sun”, people haven’t yet seemed to run out of things to do in Minecraft; there is even a new mod that will let you build a spaceship and go explore other moons and planets – Galacticraft.
Claiming “the sky is no longer the limit”, Galacticraft lets you explore the solar system in your own spaceship. This might sound like yet another intensely difficult build system, like those seen in gregcraft and thaumcraft. However, just watch this video to get a sense of some of the possibilities in Galacticraft and you will see how simple it actually is.
The current list of features are:
- Travel throughout the solar system!
- Create and customize your very own spaceship (customization coming soon)!
- Explore new planets and moons!
- Electrical and Oxygen System!
- SMP Support – Explore with your friends!
- Multiple language support!
- New mobs!
- Lots of new items and blocks!
- Dungeons (coming soon)!
- API to allow modders to add more content, including whole new solar systems and galaxies!
You can download Galacticraft here.
I’m still not so sure about Minecraft. I can understand the appeal – people who say it’s boring just don’t have the imagination to build something. Like a giant sandbox, it’s all about playing and building towards a goal. That said, I just can’t get into it. Maybe it’s because I don’t do well with first person games, or maybe my imagination just isn’t oriented that way. Somehow, it just doesn’t feel like fun to me. Although, that said, I do enjoy watching all the crazy videos of people playing it on YouTube.

Yeah because a US invasion is new? no Wait Homefront and Modern Warfare already covered that. Maybe its the Dog? No Fallout did that already. Fish that swim away? Super Mario did that in 1996. Hmmmm…….

I for the love of god, dont see what is so great about minecraft. i have it at home played it for a day or 2 and it sucked. Sure I applaud the guys that build amazing towers and replicate famous buildings. But seriously They should revamp the graphics and make it more fun. Add true horror from enemies. ect. But let the minecraft geeks have their fun.

Don’t bash it because you don’t enjoy it lol. I also don’t enjoy it to that extent. Played a few days and was over it.
I think the lure of it is exactly because it isn’t serious horror from enemies and because the graphics aren’t bleeding edge. It’s the novelty and creative direction of the game that lure people

If I was able to get into Minecraft this would be awesome.
I also enjoy watching the Youtube vids of people making crazy things, it really is challenging and I give those guys credit for what they do.
Unfortunately I have the artistic imagination of a blind pigeon so I could never make anything worth mentioning and thus never got into it.

I updated my MineCraft client last night and started again… I don’t think they’ll ever run out of stuff to add, mod and build on WoW.
Most impressive place I’ve seen was the re-creation of the King’s city from Game of Thrones.

Rather get Kerbal Space Program…. it is rocket science, but a monkey can do it. As Jebediah Kerman once said:”If the rocket blows up, use more space tape”.
