Hi, I’m Geoff…and I’m addicted to Jetpack Joyride.

It seems I’m not the only one – over 13 million people have downloaded the infuriatingly addictive iOS game Jetpack Joyride from developer Halfbrick since it went free-to-play.

Halfbrick’s Chief Marketing Officer Phil Larsen told Joystiq that the game, which sold a million copies when it was available for 99c, has since moved another 13 million times since that price was reduced to absolutely nothing. Thing is? Revenue is up – because the game allows you to buy in-game items to help raise high scores, and lots of people have been paying for those.

Larsen estimates that between 5-10 percent of customers will spend at least a dollar on in-app purchases. On top of that, the game’s getting an update soon:

"There’s an update coming in the next month," Larsen said said "It’s the biggest one we’ve done so far."

Seriously though – Jetpack Joyride has been one of the biggest causes of pins and needles in my legs – and if you’ve ever sat playing games on the toilet you’ll know why.

One day, I might even beat Gavin’s high score. Bastard.
