Just Cause 3 won’t be riddled with micro-transactions

Just Cause 3

And not just cos I said so. Back when I posted the leaked screenshots, there was some concern that Just Cause 3 would be adopting the trend of sticking micro-transactions into the game. After all, if you can pay in-game credits to call in for some military wheels, why not extend that with real cash? That would be a stupidly good idea, if you were a businessman I reckon. But according to Avalanche, their open-world baby will be micro-transaction free.

“Following last week’s rumours and speculation, we also wanted to take the opportunity to address a few misconceptions,” the studio wrote on their blog.

Those leaked screenshots were taken from an ancient version of Just Cause 3. Like most games, this one went through an exploratory phase where we looked at different control schemes, different technologies, different business models. Those leaked screenshots show aspects of that process, and in no way reflect the game we are making today.

To be perfectly clear: Just Cause 3 will be available in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. It will be distributed as a retail box and digital download. It is not a Free To Play game. It does not feature in-game micro transactions.

Avalanche is also promising new DLC for Just Cause 3 post launch, as it parachutes into 2015. The return of Rico Rodriguez will see the operative return to Medici in order to topple General Di Ravello and his army, with new gear that includes a wing suit in order to really take advantage of vertical gameplay. All this, over a 400 square mile map. Damn son.

  1. Just sort out the controls!!!! Make it so that everyone can enjoy it not just the people who like to learn for the first 4 hours how your control scheme works!!

That’s been one of the key areas that they’re focusing on, according to Avalanche. They even got some Burnout devs to fix the driving.

I don’t mind bad driving, but if I have to think what to press every time something happens then I get irritated! A games controls should feel like second nature… Their second games controls felt alien!!

    Sounds impressive.
Now the question is will the DLC be worth the money?

Some of them don’t even check their email.
Okay, I admit I only waited 3 days before giving up and moving on.

Although now that I think about I never did get a response email…

What do you want to give away? I’ll make sure it gets a home (even if it is on my PC)

They had plenty of non-essential DLC in 2, extra weapons & vehicles mostly. Hardly bothered with most of them.

Just Cause 2 was over 200sq km.
Games sure are getting big, and I’m very excited about it.
How big is Dragon Age Inquisition’s map anyway?
