Keep an eye out for Kano in Mortal Kombat X

Eye see what you did there

You can’t have a Mortal Kombat game without the presence of Sub-Zero or Scorpion, but I’ve always felt that Kano is an essential part of the core roster as well. He’s quite possibly the meanest character in the entire franchise and he also happens to be Australian, a double-dose of pure evil. Here’s how he’ll be kicking ass and taking names in Mortal Kombat X.

If you can’t watch the video above, here’s the lowdown on Kano’s three particular variations for fighting, from Mortal Kombat X’s Ed Boon himself.

Cybernetic

The cybernetic variation gives Kano an arsenal of eye-laser and grenade attacks, allowing him to strike for long-range and defend against aerial attacks.

Cutthroat

In the cutthroat variation, Kano pounds on his cybernetic heart to power up his attacks, and his enhanced knife-fighting skills allow for a number of new combos.

Commando

And last but not least, the Commando variation enhances Kano’s grappling skills and allows him to counter both high and low attacks.

I dig what I’m seeing. One of Kano’s key features in previous Mortal Kombat games, were his fast-paced tumbles, somersaults that could come from any direction during a fight. That skill is most likely taking a backseat in Mortal Kombat X, and that Commando variation is looking like a deliciously sweet option for players who enjoy countering every move thrown at them.

But what genuinely impresses me in that video, is the arena in which that fight takes place. It looks gorgeous, and the lighting effects are magnificent. And much like the previous Netherrealm fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, those stages are going to have an interactive side hidden inside of them.

Mortal Kombat X is out next year.

The sound in the game alone is brilliant. Imagine hearing that in full 7.2 surround sound!

Kruger from Elysium should be a secret character. Then again, people will say the movie stole the idea for the character from COD:AW.
