Kinect

In all the excitement for the local launch of Xbox Live, another piece of Microsoft’s entertainment pie seems to have gone a little unnoticed. Yes, that would be Kinect, Microsoft’s revolutionary controller-free motion-sensing peripheral.

It’s in stores right now, for the somewhat unreasonable R1999 – or the much more reasonable R4299 when bundled with a brand new 250 Gb Xbox 360 S. It’s a fancy, 3D infra-red tracking system that’ll enable you to flail around wildly and look very, very silly indeed without using any unnecessary controllers. Hooray for casual interactive entertainment! Besides gaming, it’ll allow you to use gestures to control your Xbox – and engage in Webcam chats with other Kinect users as well as MSN contacts who’re using PCs.

Hit the jump for the list of launch titles, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Kinect – or if you’ve already done so.

  • Kinect Adventures (Microsoft Game Studios)
  • Kinectimals (Frontier Studio/Microsoft Game Studios)
  • Kinect Joy Ride (Big Park/Microsoft Game Studios)
  • Kinect Sports (Rare/Microsoft Game Studios)
  • Dance Central (MTV Games)
  • Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (Ubisoft)
  • EA Sports Active 2 (EA)
  • Deca Sports Freedom (Hudson)
  • Dance Masters (Konami)
  • Adrenalin Misfits (Konami)
  • Zumba Fitness (Majesco)
  • Sonic Free Riders (Sega)
  • The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout (THQ)
  • Motion Sports (Ubisoft)
  • Game Party: In Motion (Warner Bros.)

If you’ve bought yourself kinect, there are two additional titles I have to recommend. The first, provided you have younger children, is Kinectimals – it’s insanely cute, and filled with a bunch of fun and silly challenges. the other is the single launch title that’s going to sell Kinect; Dance Central. Young or old, drunk or not, it’s an outrageously  party game that’ll get everyone moving.

The irony of this whole Kinect debacle is that alot poeple in the gaming communities said that the so called hardcore gamers were not interested in kinect but the sales indicate otherwise as the stand alone kinects are sold out but 360 4G/250G bundles are still widely available meaning xbox gamers are the early adopters of the tech…

No time soon, unfortunately. I don’t want to get in to it – but the local review sampling for Kinect is retarded.

LOL! Dude, I weigh 72kgs (on a 5 foot 6 frame), so HARDLY overweight or even obese. Sure, I may be short, but I think you’re projecting your insecurities on me.

If you want to lose weight and gain some muscle, just go to gym, cut out the carbs, and go easy on the junk food.

You know I was speaking to some people the other day that didn’t know who Bobby Kotick is, and through it was your real name, and that it might be you in that pic. So… yeah, could cause some confusion.

    @Nick Wow…

Although I figured that much, but to be honest, it’s probably best that you don’t know who Robert Kotick is because once you delve too deep into gaming politics, it can become a depressing affair.. 🙁

Disclaimer: This account is a satirical take on Activision’s boss, Robert Kotick. I am not THE Bobby Kotick, or as some may know him the Secret Bloody Agent, ruler of Activision/Blizzard, destroyer of Guitar Hero… nor do I weigh 360 pounds, enslave African migrant workers or insist on overcharging for games coming from Activision, but I do like pie… and women 😆
