Kinect Table Tennis Is Making Kinect Look Pretty Good Right Now

I must admit that since spending an oddly large amount of time playing the heck out of the Playstation Move Table Tennis mode in Sports Champions, I am pretty interested in just about anything that even remotely reminds me of it.

Concerns have arisen due to reports that the Microsoft Kinect technology is not exactly up to scratch when it comes to accuracy and latency, but this video of the Table Tennis mode in Kinect Sports seems to want to change my mind.

The video shows that not only can the player have a pretty great Table Tennis experience, complete with the ability to add spin, move forwards and backwards etc. but the small amount of latency doesn’t seem to be a problem at all. Not too bad considering that two players seem to be having fun without the need for any controller.

Is Kinect going to surprise us by the time it launches? We will have to wait and see. For now, head through the jump and watch the video below.

  1. Looks ok , but the balls don’t really seem to be going in the direction they are hitting it.

@Ewie: Nope. Another broken promise from MS. You wont be able to scan objects in to your games like they promised last year at E3 at least at launch anyways.

Now Rockstar should develop a sequal to that often overlooked but brilliant table tennis game for Kinect!

I personally thought that game was majorly broken. It got to the point where if two ppl learnt the controls a single rally point went on till the other person got tired. I had 10 to 20 minute rally points in that game. It had no depth or strategy.

I would recommend you play Table tennis with Move with all the aids and assists turned off and you would be blown away with how realistic it is. Of course i would recommend it but you hate Playstation for some reason so i wont

I own a PlayStation 2 with over 50 games purchased in a period of 3 to 5 years I was an avid PS2 gamer, I do on the other hand think that the PS3 is nothing like its predecessor, everything that the PS2 was the XBOX 360 is! And funny enough everything that XBOX1 was PS3 is.
