Metal Gear Solid V is never being properly finished 2

Metal Gear Solid V is an exceptional game if you strip away its most disappointing element: its story. From a gameplay perspective, it’s an incredible, expansive experience that takes some of the series’ best elements and manages to overlay them over open-world gameplay. The story, on the other hand, is a let down. Seemingly half finished with more than a few dangling threads, it’s clear some of it never made the cut. But Konami won’t finish it.

According to the publisher, all 50 missions of Metal Gear Solid V encapsulate the story it wanted to tell, with all the remaining threads being wrapped up in already released titles that take place further down the timeline. Answering fan questions on Twitter, the official Metal Gear account acknowledge the existence of additional missions (like mission 51), but claims that it was content cut before the game went gold.

As for the behind-the-scenes footage of the mission, it was nothing more than a bonus to Collector’s Edition buyers, with the publisher having no plans to actually release it for play. Many players have accused Metal Gear Solid V of cutting a full Act from the end, which Kotaku reported to contain the most important narrative bits in the entire game.

We’ve known for ages now that something not so pleasant happened between Hideo Kojima and Konami, and it’s clear the fallout of that resulted in less time for Metal Gear Solid V development and likely the axing of content that might have rounded it off a lot better. It’s a shame too, especially with Konami already making it clear that they don’t seek to preserve the pedigree that once came with the name Metal Gear.

No no no. Blizzard used to be great. They’re now straight middling. They get some things totally right, and some totally wrong. Still can’t beat their storytelling though.

Only thing I like about them these days: Their CGI cutscenes/intros are still stunning! But they’ve been in decline ever since they put all their eggs into the WOW basket.

Yup. Starcraft 2 is shit. Diablo 3 is tedious, samey, and shit. HotS is meh. Hearthstone is kinda fun, but only really on my iPad when I have nothing better to do.

But Overwatch is apparently a lot of fun, so they have that at least.

Overwatch is ok, but I got bored with it after only a few matches. I get the appeal, but it just didn’t resonate with me. I’d rather play Destiny to be honest….

Rockstar is literally just GTA though. For those who like GTA, they’re the best company ever. For those who don’t (like me) they’re completely irrelevant.

Rockstar is a hard one to place; I’d put them ahead of EA purely because their games are generally of a higher quality (If you ignore the fiasco that is GTA Online)

When it comes to game pricing and support I can’t really complain about EA (except for MT riddled games – which I haven’t experienced myself), but Rockstar is moer dodgy with their pricing.

Let’s not forget that they put up the price of GTA V before a sale, add some useless in-game cash to the buy, and then put it on “sale” at its original price.
