Lazygamer Top Tip – Adjusting Cockpit View In Forza 3

I know, Forza Motorsport 3 isn’t actually out yet but I don’t really care because I have a great tip for Forza 3 fans that I was quite pleased to read myself.

One of the biggest gripes from many fans is the fact that the cockpit view sits a little too far forward, a big pain in the ass if you would like to actually see what’s going on in your rear-view mirror instead of just admiring it’s frame.

I usually like forward positions on my cockpit cams because it allows you to see more of the track but once I went back to play some GT5 Prologue on the Playstation 3 I realised that they had gotten the field of view angle just right.

Forza fans, you may want to bookmark this post. Here’s how to do it.

A forum post on Forza Central has all of the information on what needs to be done and the alteration actually exists thanks to the multi-screen setup that Forza 3 allows.

Forum member Deth Thrasher had the following to say:

“by adjusting the fov levels in the multiscreen setup (worked in FM2 aswell) you can move the cockpit view back to around GT5p view or even more!”

“(the) default is crappy as you cant see the side mirror and only a part of the rear view mirror, 62 degrees is pretty much perfect and 90 is way too far (you can see end of arms), also the intro to race cam is further back”

To change the angle, just do the following to the settings under the multi-screen setup options:

  • Multiscreen: On
  • Mode: Host
  • Channel: 0 will do
  • View: Center
  • Degrees Hidden: 0 or just play around with it
  • Degrees between screens: 62 (recommended) or whatever suits you best

Voila. Now you can get the best out of the Forza 3 cockpit view! I have always been a big fan of them and now I don’t have any reason to have to use a different one instead.

You can see pics of the different settings through the link below.

Does this not work for anyone else? I tried it on my copy of FM3 I set the settings then restarted and it stays the same.

If you do everything the way it’s stated above, the view WILL NOT change. To see an immediate difference in the cockpit, do this:

    Degrees Hidden: 0
Degrees between screens: 90 (which is maximum)

This will be the best overall, and depending on the car, the view might move forward or back a bit.
