On 4 October 2013, Riot will be holding the World Championship finals for League of Legends. The games will be taking place at the Staples Center in LA, the home of the LA Lakers, but tickets sold out almost instantly.
Last week, tickets went on sale and sold out in about an hour. When Riot put the next batch on sale, they sold out within five minutes. That’s even worse than trying to get tickets for the rAge LAN!
With the Staples Center sold out, and millions more able to watch online, it will be interesting to see if League of Legends will outshine Dota 2. The International 3 was a huge success this year, with prize money of $2.87 million. However, Riot will be paying championship players a salary, plus they will receive any sponsorships, streaming revenue and prize money. In the battle of the MOBAs, it would seem that the players will definitely come out as winners.
Will you be watching the Season 3 Championships? Did you watch The International 3? I thoroughly enjoyed the spectating options for The International 3, and I think the compendium added a lot of extra value to viewers. Would you like to see something similar for LoL?

Don’t get me wrong I love cheese. Here is one for you. Recent female only driving test asks one question. “What hand do you use to flip someone off while driving?” Only right answer was “The hand not holding you cellphone” 😛

Wonder if they’ll stream through the app as well as another site. It would also be nice to know how they’re streaming…

The venue comparisons between LoL and Dota 2 says alot about how each game is approached.
LoL is run like a sports event.
Dota 2 is theatre and passion.
Putting my pettiness aside for a moment, it just makes so much sense.
