LFL

I had no idea Lingerie football was a thing – but apparently groups of scantily dressed women get together to throw around an egg-shaped ball and tackle each other for the enjoyment of males. There’s even an official Lingerie Football League – and soon you can expect video games based on the sport, thanks to Japanese developer Yukes – developer of the WWE and I guess, former developer of UFC games for THQ, who’ve secured the licence.

"We at Yuke’s feel that there is incredible momentum building behind the LFL and that the sport is perfectly positioned to become the next big franchise in the gaming world," said Yukes CEO Yukinori Taniguchi. "The core global fan base of the LFL, which consists of nearly 60-percent Men, 18-34, perfectly aligns with the gaming world’s target market."

Men, presumably, who’re doing their own, personal bit of tackling while they watch. In a press release, the company says it plans on  “capturing the essence of the intensity, speed, beauty and on-the-field action of LFL Football.” Seeing as it’s been a  bit of a theme of late…do you think this is yet another example of “pernicious objectification” of women, or is it fine, because the women involved choose to do this?

And yes, it really is a thing. Here’s a video, though it might be considered a little NSFW.
