Remember how we made you all play Loadout for our community play last time? We are apparently really trendy – everyone else is playing it, too. Wait, seeing as we’re early, does that make us hipsters? Or are we just mainstream and doing what everyone else does?
Edge of Reality, the developers behind Loadout, have released some impressive state from its first few weeks on Steam. In its first 14 days of availability, Loudout got two million signups. Going toe-to-toe with free-to-play giants like Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2, Loadout is already one of the top five most popular free-to-play games on Steam with players logging over 9 million hours of game time.
Edge of Reality CEO, Rob Cohen said the team was surprised by the demand, leading to some server issues at launch:
The incredible surge of interest at launch shattered all our expectations, and it unfortunately just became too much for our servers to handle in the beginning. Very few Steam titles have reached the peak concurrent users we achieved upon release. We’re committed to delivering an excellent game to our community, and we continue to work hard to ensure that our servers provide all our players with the same fluid, responsive, and enjoyable experience across the board.
Loadout certainly has shattered expectations – so often multiplayer games flop at launch, it must have been hard for them to know what kind of server capacity they would require. However, now that people are jumping on board, it seems like they are boosting servers and doing what they can to ensure that the game is stable for everyone.
Are you playing Loadout? Or are you sticking with L4D2?

I’m loving Loadout, far more than I thought I would. It’s perfect for spending a few minutes gaming between getting home after work & my beauty sleep.
Still want to play some more L4D2 though as well.

i need to try Loadout – it looks unspeakably fun. but, only on PC, so feel bad kicking the husband from his computer just to teabag people…

You can’t teabag people Zoe… how many times do we have to tell you this?

There is a joke about carpets and drapes in there somewhere… But I won’t say anything as it might be offensive O_o
EDIT: And am I the only one that finds it ironic that @Mossel upvoted this comment?

It really is fun, enjoy it… but the people that have been playing way too much just steamroll you… which is my only issue with how match ups work.

I’ve also experienced that.

It’s happened to me as well. I just see it as an opportunity to learn, it’s only for 1 short game. Once the game’s over I just quit that group & find another.
The worst though is playing a game of Annihilation & people disconnect during the game. Playing 4v2 in that game mode isn’t fun, even if you’re on the 4 side.

Except fire bullets. Those bad boys wreak havoc!!
Alien Emperor Trevor
March 3, 2014 at 14:18
I don’t like them that much. I prefer using regular bullets with more immediate damage than the fire damage over time.

True, but it is super funny to see the guy that killed you run around and freak out as his life burns away!

On a separate note Zoe. Played my free weekend of Elder Scrolls Online, thanks to the competition 🙂
Was a bit underwhelmed, tbh. Looks amazing, but everything else feels a bit too typically MMO, with very little Elder Scrolls in there.
Her Highness the Hipster
March 3, 2014 at 14:00
agreed. i played a different MMO this weekend instead… don’t think i’ll get back into TESO – nothing in there to lure me back

I only played a few hours myself and then moved on to something else. Tried to get back into it last night again, but got bored very quickly.

I love Loadout. It’s a little light on features, but what impressed me was how fluid the graphics were, and the customisation on weapons…. SUPERB!!!
