SW1313

Lucasarts has announced a new Star Wars game for the more mature, core audience – and while it’s not Battlefront 3 or a new Knights of the Old Republic, it could be enough to get fans excited.

In the new 3rd person, cover-based action adventure you’ll play as an as yet unnamed Bounty Hunter looking for targets on Coruscant., the republic’s capital.

LucasArts will be bringing in a number of Lucasfilm subsidiaries for the project; Industrial Light & Magic, Skywalker Sound and Lucasfilm Animation.

They’re billing it as a “mature” title, in which you’ll "uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy" – which hopefully means complex and intelligent gameplay systems and dialogue, and not just lots of swears and boobs.

Here’s what LucasArts says of the new game, more of which will be shown at next week’s E3.

Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.

Could this be the game that Star Wars fans have been waiting for? Though my opinions of LucasArts have dwindled down to nearly nothing,  it certainly can’t end up any worse than Kinect Star Wars.
