Major Nelson Chats about XNA

I have a feeling this XNA creators club is going to be huge. Basically if you don’t know what it is about, now anyone can develop arcade games for the Xbox 360 and with very little of the normal cost or fuss of producing games get it out there for everyone to try.

I downloaded the launcher and tried Jelly Car, which is just fantastic. Once there becomes a bit of a back catalogue of these games I have a feeling you will see it explode. It will hopefully bring us all the benefits of homebrew without any of the worries.

[Thanks Fox1 for the tip]

I’m so excited for this I can’t even begin to describe how much. While Jelly car and Dishwasher are awesome games, they’re still pretty arcady.

The XNA libraries are fully 3D and fully network enabled now, there is no reason we couldn’t see things like ports of Open Source favourites like Planeshift, or some of the great OSS FPSs out there.

I stand to be corrected, but I don’t even think you need Live Gold to access the network components either . . .
