Marvel characters coming to Disney Infinity

We knew this day would come. With Disney owning the rights to Marvel characters, it was only a matter of time until they mashed them up against other Disney characters. It appears that time has come, but is it also a sign of a new kind of Disney Infinity.

Here is the video, teasing the heroes’ arrival in Disney Infinity.

For the non-video viewing among you, we see the original cast of Disney Infinity characters from Pirates, Monsters University and The Incredibles, all playing in the sandbox. All of a sudden, we see something flying through the air. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s… Captain America’s shield. The final screen says “Bring on the Super Heroes”, followed by a Disney Infinity screen with a funny tab on it. Yes, that tab says “2.0 Edition”.

Awesome, so the Marvel universe will join up with the Disney universe in an epic sandbox. But if we’re looking at a 2.0 edition, does this mean that people will need a new system? Perhaps new base stations, or will they be cross-compatible like Skylanders’ first two portals? Or is this more of a marker system, like new seasons of TV series?

Something new is on the horizon, and I’m sure we’ll get more details soon. In the meantime, it’s cool to know that Marvel characters are on their way. I’m looking forward to being tempted to buy those awesome figurines. Their models are already so impressive looking, I can’t wait to see what they do with the Hulk and Deadpool.

Even though I dislike the fact that you can only play with these characters outside the sandbox if you buy the playset, I am still smiling ear to ear.

    Dislike the game….loving the characters

It’s the expression on his face.
        It’s a dead give-away.
