Marvel Heroes sure has changed over the last year

When Marvel Heroes first launched, the game did so to mediocre reviews that were anything but sizzling. For most game studios however, that’s a key to grab the cash and run, usually while adding a super-sized middle finger for extra fun. Marvel Heroes on the other hand, has used the last year to not only add to the game, but improve on it immensely.

With Marvel Heroes 2015 on the way, here’s a look at how the F2P action RPG has changed since 2013.

Marvel

  • Hero stats have been completely changed in order to be easier to understand, with the Basic Stat System being able to scale infinitely
  • Heroes are now priced to within three tiers – 450, 900, 1350 G (100G is equal to $1)
  • An optional auto-party system has been added
  • Eternity Splinters were added to the game, which can be used earned and used as a currency in order to buy new heroes and gear
  • Graphical system has been overhauled to create smoother gameplay
  • The user interface is much less cluttered
  • The inventory space has been expanded considerably
  • Better global waypoint systems
  • A new Rune System which allows for powerful enchantments
  • New item rarities added, such as Unique and Cosmic
  • Legendary items that level up with you
  • New Legendary Quests that have massive rewards
  • Boss encounters have been retooled
  • One shot stories added, which give short missions that are perfect for quick jaunts and can be repeated
  • A Synergy System allows players to customise certain stats if they own several heroes
  • No longer need to buy Cosmic Keys to access certain dungeons

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In Marvel Heroes 2015, even more retooling and upgrading is on the way, such as new game modes, advancement systems and new end-game raids. “Marvel Heroes 2015 nicely represents everything we have accomplished and intend to accomplish with one name,” CEO of Gazillion Entertainment David Brevik said in a press release.

We’ve come a very long way since our original launch a year ago, and the now imminent release of Marvel Heroes 2015 alongside our massive anniversary celebrations marks the beginning of something even better. Whether it’s defending the X-Mansion or recruiting your favourite superhero as a Team-Up, we’re excited to continue delivering on our community’s expectations.

If you had asked me a year ago if Marvel Heroes was worth playing, I’d most likely have said no. But now? It’s a massively different game since it launched, and is far more welcoming to new players thanks to all the additions and enhancements.

And if you stick around, we might have something to give away to celebrate the first year of the game, later this week.

I heard a lot of negative things about this game but maybe it’s worth a look.

      It’s not
I’ve done over 30 hours on this game, trying to convince myself that it’ll get better.
Each month it has a HUGE update (we’re talking gigs) for all the sh!t you’ll never buy and the game is pretty damn repetitive. Stopped playing it about three weeks ago, deleted off my pc. Not worth wasting any more time on.

Haha. No. It’s just so damn tedious and after I saw yet another 3 gig update I decided that it’s just not worth it anymore.

We still need to do Awesomenauts. Just haven’t downloaded it yet. Just got PayDay 2 after the weekend, so I’m bound to lose my MP time on that (not that I’ve had much time for gaming lately)

Marvel is cool and all but I find it a bit overbearing at times. What I want is a proper Snake Eyes game! He is the only reason I tolerate the new GI Joe movies as well 😛

They made GI Joe movies? Oh… those two disasters that was Joe in name but was no Joe in game?

I never played any Shinobi or Ninja Gaiden game as a kid which seem to be the only two ninjas some people consider as possibly cooler than Snake Eyes. I.e. in my book Snake Eyes is the king!

Ah I missed that one, which is a pity since I played a lot on my NES back in the day. I did have the 2nd GI Joe game (the one after atlantis – or before?) which was balls-to-the-wall awesome!! You could pick three Joes, and Snake Eyes always accompanied my squad without exception!

I only played Atlantis and you could switch with that one. It was awesome how you could power up your characters as well. The boss battles were just as fun.

Maybe one day they’ll release a Xmen / Marvel game that was as cool as Children of the Atom on Sega
