Mass Effect 2 is actually exclusive to the 360/PC combo

A story was published through the night hinting that Mass Effect 2 may in fact be coming to the PS3 after all.

The rumour started from a posting on Joystiq where they interviewed BioWare’s Matt Atwood and asked him who owns the Mass Effect IP.

Apparently this IP is owned by the mass console loving EA Games and according to Matt there is no exclusivity deal in place with Microsoft.

Well it appears that Matt was mistaken as he has since contacted Joystiq and confirmed that there is in fact an exclusivity deal with Microsoft in place for Mass Effect 2 which simply put means the PS3 isn’t going to be seeing it.

As for the IP going forward, well no plans have been announced yet but by all accounts the exclusivity deal doesn’t exclude Mass Effect 3 coming to the PS3, though the story may be a bit hard to follow if you haven’t played the first 2.

Well, what if you haven’t played the first 12 FF’s? 🙄

Hardly any of the FF stories are linked, so it’s a different matter altogether.

Fail. Not only is it incorrect because the Final Fantasy games are not linked, it also fails due to an ignorance of gaming history. Final Fantasy started out with Nintendo consoles, only going to Sony with Final Fantasy VII. The whole Final Fantasy XIII coming to 360 too isn’t the first time it has broken away from attachments to any console manufacturer.

Mass effect triolgy is not exclusive to Xbox 360. It would be a discrace to Bioware and the game.
