Mass Effect 2 on PS3 to Be More Comprehensive than Xbox 360 Version

ME2

PS3 gamers really should be elated that one of the Xbox 360’s best former exclusives, Mass Effect, is headed to their console of choice. The version they get though, may in fact be superior to the original.

The latest issue of Official Playstation Magazine tells us why.

According to BioWare’s Casy Hudson, calls the interactive in-game comic – which details the events of the first Mass effect -  will work as a save game generator. Here’s the extra stuff PS3 owners get to enjoy.

  • Nearly $100 of additional content, all 3 major expansion packs and over a dozen of smaller Pieces of DLC altogether adds up to approximately 20 hours of additional gameplay.
  • The PS3 version will also feature 3 years worth of engine updates and every patch release for the game.
  • The developers promise that they are not taking any shortcuts” Oftentimes when you got to the PS3 you see stuff like down-resing and using a smaller than 720p resolution to try and get back some of the framerate. “We haven’t done that” says producer Jesse Houston, “we really wanted to try to make it as good, if not better than the Xbox version.”

This is starting to sound like the Xbox 360 JRPG “exclusives” in Japan. They get released as exclusives, only to come out later on PS3 with a host of other features and bonus content. As somebody who played – and loved – the game on an Xbox 360..I’m not actually terribly upset about the PS3 version being better. I’m just really glad that more people will get to experience the excellent space opera that’s filled in the void left by the Knights of the Old Republic going all MMO.

I may actually just play through it again.

    Reliable…ish.

My current failed console tally stands at Xbox 360 :1 Ps3 : 1. My Xbox died during its 3rd year of warranty, my PS3 just out of its first. Thankfully Partserve swopped it for me anyway.

I don’t have a PS3, and I wish that more PS3 games came to xbox. I’m glad that PS3 owners also get to play ME2, cause it’s an awesome game.

The age of ‘exclusives’ needs to end.
