Mass Effect 4 to get delightful multiplayer

Mass effect multiplayer

Mass Effect 3 had some excellent multiplayer. It was fun and cooperative, and had some excellent tie in with the game. The new Mass Effect (that won’t be called Mass Effect 4 but we’ll keep calling that until we get a new name to work with) will also have multiplayer and Bioware is looking for the right leader for it.

The game must be pretty far along if they’re already looking for someone to lead the multiplayer team. That gets tacked on at the end, right? I kid, I kid. Well, not that much – most of the character models and core features of the game will already be decided by now if they’re looking to integrate the multiplayer in at this point.

I really like some of the elements of the job listing. There’s the usual “play well with others” type expectations, but these are the ones that make me smile.

  • Provide clear context to the team for how the features fit into the larger game, how they fit into the market place, and how it serves and delights our fans.
  • Be the Voice of the players for the area of ownership, articulate clearly fans expectations to the team and provide actionable items.

Of course there are also the goals that make me cringe, mostly around sustained profitability. Then again, multiplayer games do make money with all the cosmetic add-ons that you can get. As long as it doesn’t become pay-to-win, of course, it should be fine for those who want to spend their money that way.

More than anything, I’m just excited that they’re hiring more people for the new Mass Effect. That must mean that the game is coming soon. That must mean that we’ll get more details in the coming weeks and months – maybe even before E3. I know we are all desperate for any news that we can get. Well, at least I am.

Oh man I loved that level in ME3 MP. Shit load of fun on Gold! Unless you are playing with OvZg as a Krogan, he spends most of his time shooting at the sky…

At least he stayed in character, Krogans generally aren’t the smartest bunch.

Yeah. On the on mission, think it was in London, he couldn’t stop shooting at the moon. We’d have team mates crying for help at his feet, and he would be screaming RWAAAAA!

I’m finding the more I’m exposed to the purposeful errors, the more I’m able to just move on. It’s the unintentional ones that drive me bat shit crazy.

Why do they have to create a new multiplayer thing, why dont they just take what they have done in ME3 and do the same. Isnt what they do with COD and BF ? I mean every release for COD is the same and people keep on buying it …

    trolololol 😉

EA and Bioware did a good job with Dragon Age Inquisition, I have spent 105 hours going through the first play through. Playing as a Human Rogue, siding with templars and against mages

dare I say that I have started again, this time a Elf mage 😉

This just makes me more excited about the new mass effect, they have proven to us that they can deliver quality.

Never played the MP in ME3, mainly because I didn’t have a stable interwebz connection back then. As long as MP is not mandatory to enjoy the SP campaign, I am happy.

Your last point. I like it. Please BioWare, none of this “be online to enjoy your SP game” shit. Don’t pull a Ubicrap.

Definitely, and if your bringing Shepard back, which I think they will, we want more guns more action!

What might happens is that Cerberus will have donated to various sperm banks around the galaxy while reviving Shepard so that in the event of Shepard’s ultimate death there will be someone (or several someones) who possess the superior human DNA that Shepard possessed.

If ME3’s and DA:I’s multiplayer is anything to go by then the multiplayer will come with the basic character classes and a handful of basic weapons unlocked and you’ll either have to spend weeks farming the MP currency to buy a chest with a random chance to get the better/interesting weapons and classes or you can spend a few hundred and just buy the chest to get the random chance to get them.
