Mass Effect HD Remaster has been rated in Korea

Who’s ready to do a space war again? Odds are, nearly everyone is keen to don the skin-tight boots of Commander Shepard and take it to the Reapers because why wouldn’t you? Mass Effect’s story is a timeless sci-fi classic that manages to hit all the generic beats of gathering an army to save the universe and spin them so that they’re actually compelling. Maybe because it’s the player’s involvement in selecting who fights and who survives, that level of involvement really does wonders for investment. All I know was that while Mass Effect’s story wasn’t necessarily unique or original, it was damn well told and that’s why I’m stoked to play it again… but prettier this time!

Okay, maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. While Mass Effect: Remastered hasn’t been confirmed, a rating for the game is about as solid a lead to follow as an official press release. Over in South Korea, Mass Effect Legendary Edition was rated by the country’s classification board alongside a load of other games that no-one actually cares about because Mass Effect is mentioned on the list. Note that “Legendary Edition” isn’t “Remastered” but I have to assume that some kind of graphical improvements are coming to game.

Perhaps we could be really ballsy and say that the game(s) are launching on next-gen consoles and will feature all that fancy ray-tracing technology and… I don’t know, that’s the only buzzword I can remember off the top of my head. I doubt this is a full on remake of the trilogy in a new engine but if it is, here’s hoping they made the combat feel a little more impactful and less repetitive.

Especially you, Mass Effect 1. You know what you did.

I am curious to learn more of what will be on offer. I wouldn’t mind replaying the game if it will look as grand as I hope it does. I can remember many aspects of the game, so I am not keen to relive the story, I just want to play something I enjoyed in a new and prettier skin!

Yeah I’m stoked to experience the franchise again but the ending of 3 keeps me hesitant, but will definitely play 1 and 2, I’m hoping they actually change the ending of 3 a bit…just so that a new game in the future has a path to move on, even if its not with Shepard.

I played a little Andromeda recently, and I think your right ” …little more impactful and less repetitive….” I’m over Mass Effect now, was great in its time, but the same thing over and over becomes too repititive, I think when it came to 3 I just enjoyed the online portion of it, never really cared so much for the story, so much so that I was only playing online like crazy on the 3rd one and had to force myself to finish the story just to see what happened.
I think I’m over Mass Effect now, even if they do remake it for next gen conosoles, won’t go back and play it.

I would play it again! Have it on my XBox currently because I want to do a play through where I kill Wrex and Garrus, because them be MY BOYS and I almost exclusively used them when available! Basically, I want to kill as many companions as possible except Jack. I have “other plans” for Jack 🙂

I will say one thing though – even though I disliked the “you can change class anytime you want” nonsense from Andromeda, I really like the gameplay itself. And ME 2 and 3 were big improvements on ME 1. So if they do this, I hope they update the combat systems.

People want more ME, just not ME “SJW sauce filled with tired faces and no story”
