Medivh Heroes of the Storm feature

Around a month ago, Blizzard teased not one, but two new characters for Heroes of the Storm (both of which are from the Warcraft franchise). We’ve already seen the first – the time bending dragon slash gnome, Chromie – added to the Nexus. Now it’s time for Medivh to make his official debut. That won’t happen for another week or so though.

The last guardian is playable in the PTR (Public Test Realm) right now however, and will be right up until his proper release. Here’s his character spotlight…

The first war began when Medivh, the last guardian of Tirisfal, opened the dark portal and unleashed the Orcish horde upon Azeroth. While he paid for his actions with his life, Medivh’s spirit could not rest. Returning to atone for his past, he guided a new generation of heroes against the burning legion. Now he brings his power and wisdom to the Nexus – ready to take his place amongst legends.

Medivh’s focus is clearly on utility over damage. Though he does one have offensive spell, the rest of his kit is designed to disrupt, setup fights, or to help his team out (or all three).

His raven form for example, is the perfect way to scout out the enemy. Being immune to all effects as a bird means that he can flap about in their face safely, all the while providing his team with vital intel.

His ultimate abilities are great tools for disruption. I’m quite fond of that Poly Bomb in particular. I’d imagine it must be quite satisfying to see the enemy team panic and scatter in order to break the chain of sheepiness (yes I totally made that word up).

When Medivh was first teased, I had little interest. Now after seeing what he’s capable of, I can’t wait to try him out! What about you? Are you excited to play as the last guardian?
