Mega Metagross joins Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Megagross

More like Mega-Gross, am I right? While that term is usually used to describe my laundry basket on a Saturday morning, it looks like Mega-Evolutions are indeed making a splash attack in the Pokémon remakes of Ruby and Sapphire. Hit the jump to see what the heavy metal Pokémon Metagross looks like with some added Darwinism.

Neat! In the games, Metagross is an absolute bastard to train. Its initial form Beldum only knows Take-Down, which is the equivalent of throwing an anvil at other Pokémon and persevering until it hits lvl 20 and evolves into Metang. From there, things get much easier as players can then evolve their Metang into Metagross at level 45 and enjoy the benefits of having a Steel/Psychic type behemoth in their line-up. I’m still curious to see how Mega-Evolution fits into the narrative of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

That’s a feat that was considered to be something unheard of in older Pokémon games, so there might be a massive plot hole in this franchise that is all about capturing and enslaving exotic animals for massive cock-fights that are considered to be the norm all over the various regions of the world that then culminate in a grand battle royale with the cream of the crop. On the other hand, whatevs man.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire arrives in October on the Nintendo 3DS. As if you didn’t have enough games to choose from already that is.

Well as long as the older Pokemon themselves can Mega-evolve, It could easily be introduced into the story seeing as how they’re no longer using the ring but the bangle, so new item separates it from XY. I guess, if one thinks of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as re-imaginings rather than straight up remakes, then yeah, it could work as Mega-Evolution was a dormant trait in Pokemon,

Also, as with all games/shows in this ‘genre’ , love trumps all. Love your pokemon enough and some new power will be unlocked. Believe in the Heart of cards enough and love your Kuribo and you’ll awaken your final form 😛

Just great! They’re making MEGA METAGROSS, another overpowered pokemon getting overpowered! What the heck is wrong with them, megas should “balance” the game, instead it makes the overused, overrated and already powerful pokemon stronger, and the weaker ones are just ignored. I know this is not the case for all the megas but it’s becoming a commonplace for pseudo legendary pokemon to get megas and that is just plain wrong! This message is not meant to offend people who like metagross I just want to see more of the “underdog” pokemon get recognition or some sort. Peace out

You must know nothing about the pokemon meta. Metagross overpowered? Metagross has great base stats, sure, but he is far from overpowered, PARTICULARLY in Gen Six. At best, Metagross has been Borderline over the past two generations, and for the most part, he’s been UU. High base stats don’t immediately make a pokemon. There are so many things that can take a Metagross down in the meta it’s not even funny. Guys like Aegislash say hello to you if you believe he is overpowered.

So let’s look at what Pokemon they’ve made “overpowered.” Garchomp? Sorry, most people still think regular Chomp is better. Kanghaskhan? Sorry, goes directly against your argument, seeings as Khan was terrible before ME. Charizard? Sure, he was popular, but he was terrible before ME, so giving him one did exactly what you are saying they aren’t. Mewtwo? Eh, I’ll give you that one, but he was Uber to begin with, so who gives a fuck if they gave him a Mega. He’s a franchise poster boy, so Nintendo decided to push him a bit more.

I’ll give you Blaziken and Scizor along with Chomp. All three were already powerful, and ended up getting a ME. However, all three were also insanely popular, and only Blaziken of those three proved to be even close to “meta breaking.” And he got banned to Ubers. So, is your argument that just because four already strong pokemon got Megas, that it is becoming “commonplace?” Let’s do some math. Of the released Megas, we have four that you could argue are “overpowered pokemon getting overpowered.” That is out of 28 total Megas. So, 1/7 of the released Megas. So all of 14% of the Megas fit your criteria. And yet it is becoming commonplace? Uh . . . .sure. If you say so.
