Microsoft expects hardcore gamers to be the first to pick up Kinect

Joyride

I was happy with the Kinect demo’s I experienced at E3 in general and while some of the games had noticeable lag I was looking at the device as an awesome control scheme and then something fun for the family.

So I have to admit that I am surprised by Microsoft’s Ryan Moore comments on CVG where he states

“Yeah. I think we know that hardcore gamers will be the first to go out and buy it, “

Over the past couple of years you would find it very difficult to find a hardcore gamer that thinks the Wii is a great console and now that Kinect has gone one better and removed the control entirely I would expect to find less hardcore gamers singing it’s praises.

The games that worked great on the Kinect were Fitness titles and casual fun games… Joyride was the closest hardcore title that I tried and I would have to say that was the least impressive of the games I tried… and Joyride is not a hardcore title by any stretch of the imagination.

I think this is true to a certain extent, only because Hardcore gamers tend to buy everything straight off the bat, like day one purchases that lead to massive cues.

I personally wasn’t that blown away by the current line up of games that we tried, but I still want one anyway just for the voice recognition and gesture based menus.

To be honest, I am more interested in Kinect integration into other games, rather than full Kinect based games themselves.

Hey it is a new gaming gadget, every hardcore gamer has to try out the latest gaming gadgets? We better give it our support becuase without the support for brave bold new ventures the “super” companies will in future avoid these “leaps” and supply us with run of the mill offerings which they can be assured of gaining revenue! Viva Kinect and beyond…………

    hardcore gamers?
kinect is casual through and through there is not a single motion game that im even remotely interested in except sorcery, but sorcerys subject matter is lame!

only a 6-10 year old kid or an uninformed mamma and pappa or a loser who wants to show off things will buy this thing first! dont hold your breath for price it will definately cost at least R1000

Lans, if nobody had bought carphones it would have taken us a lot longer to get into the cellphone era…. we need to support this as it will create “motion” for new gaming technologies.

I disagree, this is the first time he actually speaks some sense.

Or is the dildo remark a reference to Move?

Depend what they class hardcore gamers as.

If they refer to 18 – 26 year old the answer is probably a big NO. But your older gamer 30 + most
likely have a family / party for which they will get this.

I’ll spend a grand on it for the kids and as a gimick at parties but if it costs more than that I’ll have to think about it

I have spend more than a 1000 on fitness videos forthe wife already, so dance central will easily be a bargain for her, and the kids would love the sports and adventure.

Hopefully this is bundled with sports/ adventure.
