Microsoft forcing pre-orders?

This is a bit of a nasty turn of events.

According to gameplayer.com.au, Microsoft is withholding content from people who do not pre-order the Lost Odyssey game.

Basically if you pre-order the game you get two codes which you then redeem for a cut scene about your past, and since the hero is an amnesiac this is quite important, and the second code upgrades your player to make him better at defending.

Now while I am a huge fan of pre-order freebies I do think they are possibly taking it to far when they are adding in pieces of the game as a freebie. Downloadable content is bad enough in some games and this is just plain wrong.

    Oh come now.

Bonus content for pre-orders is as old as, well bonus content. The two items up for grabs are minor and I promise will be more disappointing to those that go for them than those who don’t have them would be.

It’s just fluff and a ‘skill’ that’s probably duplicated in 50 different ways elsewhere.

Same as bioware’s Jade Empire – the limited edition had an extra caracter or something to play – never played this caracther at all.

And didn’t Forxza and a few others contain a few extra cars etc.
