If you’re one of those nogoodnik pirates, playing illicitly gained Xbox 360 games and have taken your console online, be prepared for a mighty banning.
According to a unconfirmed reports on few forums, Microsoft has started instituting bans on consoles and gamertags that are in violation of the code of conduct.
If these rumours of a new banwave are true, modifying your console to play “backups†will get your entire console banned from Xbox Live. Other transgressions, like editing your gamercard to falsely boost your gamerscore, cheating and glitching will net a ban on just your gamertag. Hosting those awful infected Call of Duty lobbies could get you axed from the service as well. I don’t really understand why some feel the need to cheat online, or artificially inflate their gamerscores; it all just smacks of an inferiority complex. I suck at games, and I’m just fine with that.
I’d take this all with a grain of salt, but if you’re rocking Xbox Live with a modded console, you should probably unplug the ethernet cable. Actually, do those of us who pay for our games a favour and unplug it anyway, banwave or not.
