Microsoft offers free games – we can't have

I thought I had written about this before but I can’t find it… anyway it is worth mentioning again.

Microsoft has launched a promotion offering 10 free Xbox Live arcade titles to new and existing consumers.

Basically if you convince someone to part with their money and to pick up a Xbox 360 console in the run up to Christmas you will be given 10 free Xbox Live arcade titles.

I personally think it’s a great idea, not only does it turn 8 million Live users into salesman but it also enforces the new purchases to sign up for Live as well. Here in lies the problem….

We don’t have official live status in South Africa which means we once again are not eligible for this special. Thanks for nothing again Microsoft.

I was once a huge 360 fanboy, taking the piss out of sales people when they pimp the PS3 and proving them wrong in front of customers and other such things. But now I am really starting to dislike it now. The bad quality, no proper Live, can’t buy points with my CC, etc.
I am seriously thinking of getting a PS3 now and I actually hope that the Ps3 takes over the 360. In fact now when colleagues and family ask me which console to get I tell them to get a PS3. And when they ask why I tell them “Because it’s less hassle.”

you realise this is select EU countries only? It’s not just SA being left out in the cold, and it’s not Microsoft giving your CC hassles, it’s Visa and Mastercard?

Sure I’m bummed too. I’d have 40 extra games by now 😉

PS3 less hassle? Don’t forget the R1500 hidden costs of having to by an HD cable and replacing both controllers next year. Either way, competition is good. When Sony starts putting up a fight I’m sure MS will start pulling some Rabbits out of hats as well, it’s all good.
