Microsoft revises Kinect sales expectations

Microsoft have revised their expected sales figures for Kinect just prior to launch due to the amount of interest they were receiving from retailers.

Previously Microsoft had stated that they expected to sell 3 million units before Christmas, a figure that was met with much derision from PS3 fans and Kinect haters alike.

Microsoft has responded by agreeing that the figure isn’t accurate and have revised it… upwards.

That’s right the latest sales expectations from Microsoft have them now expecting to sell 5 million Kinect units by Christmas.

Personally I think they may now be reaching a bit, 3 million was easily attainable but 5 million in 1 month would make it one of the biggest (if not the biggest) tech releases on the planet.

I guess only time will tell and with us no longer receiving official figures from third parties we will have to wait until the financial year end when Microsoft are required by law to report accurate sales for the division.

The fact that Kinect stands a chance 2 be a runaway success worries me to a large extent I mean look at the Wii when last did you see actual games on it, no really I mean something worth playing. Truth of the matter is SONY is the only company at this point thats actually spending money on making real games for gamers, I mean games wise this has been one of the 360 weakest years to date, maybe its time to look into getting a PS3 I mean look at all those brilliant exclusives wow makes me envious…PHYSCHE!

Funny that you bring up exclusives at a time like this? Care to name some of the xbox ones coming out ‘soon’?

I don’t mean to start a off topic war – I’m am just really interested (Since I have an xbox now).

Halo Reach, Alan Wake and Kinect games ie Panzer Dragoon, Harry Potter and Dance central, are all good exclusives to play and just wait another few months for Gears of War 3.

I have Lara Croft: Guardian of Light on both PS3 and Xbox, but if I want to play online, I can only do that on the Xbox version.

Exclusives are much more rare nowadays then they used to be. It’s all things like the Croft game.

    Fanboys, however, are forever… Unfortunately.

Like I said I don’t want to start a whole fanboy war. I’m just curious as to why Aussious (the master troll) mentions exclusives now of all times.

I find it strange that on the entire LG community I am one of a handful of ppl thats actually proud to own an xbox… What i find utterly stupid though is ppl that claim to have xbox’s yet they hate on it like they getting paid to do so… Heck I’ve just bought a 250 GB 360S just because I can, could have bought a PS3 then I though nah my 360 S will look so much better nxt to my Elite and Arcade….LOL

I love my Xbox. I just don’t like fanboys. A fanboy doesn’t just talk about what they love, they put down everything else. Now, I’m not accusing you of this, Aussious, so don’t worry … but seriously, people…. you can like something without HAVING to hate the other.

I have and love both consoles. I do have a clear favorite in mind, but I’m very glad to have both.

@Aussious i don’t think there’s anything wrong about being proud/fanboy. if you like something that much, more power to yourself!

i don’t think people hate the xbox 360, its more of a love/hate relationship

Its just a game console I am more attached to the games than the box, I mean last gen I supported SONY’s system before that N64 and before that SNES and Genesis etc so its all about the games… PS3 just doesn’t have games that appeal to me, maybe next gen they will and they won’t tell me to go get a second job so I can afford to play video games, I still can’t get over that!

Sony were arrogant, back in the day!

What really got me hooked onto the Xbox 360 was Gears of War and the fact that the ps3 was delayed for so long and cost R5999.
Another reason that enticed me is the co-op, xbox live, and the controller.

But this gen im enjoying all the consoles/PC, Dragon age, and Starcraft 2 have blown me away!

haha The sole reason I bought the Xbox 360 was because of Fable 2……..and since then I haven’t regretted it one bit. It’s an awesome gaming console….for me it’s like the “new” “PS2” (gaming-wise) lolz
    I admit I prefer the Xbox 360 over the PS3, but that doesn’t mean I’m a fanboy.

Yeah i had my sites set on a PS3 but lack of good games during anitial years and the rediculous price tag really put me off. So i gave xbox a shot I didnt like Halo much but the likes of Gears, Darkness,Bioshock and Mass Effect won me over.

And thats why I also said ‘soon’. If we look at the next 6 months.

    GeoW3
    First Templar
    Crossboard 7

    I just found it funny that exclusives were mentioned when Sony has (in the next 6 months);

    LBP2
    GT5
    Motorstorm 3
    KZ3
    Socom 4
    ICO HD collection
    Yakuza 4

Of course it’s personal preference though! I still need to get Fable 3 and Alan Wake (some of the games I bought my xbox for). I’m just going to wait to ‘finish’ COD:BO before getting those!

@RSA-Ace: Do yourself a favour and skip Fable 3 or get it later in the bargain bin. Ive been playing for ten hours and i havent died once. I had about 10 health potions stocked up but couldnt use any because the game is so easy so i started selling them. They virtually took away and challenge Fable might have had in the past. Just about the only thing decent about this game is the voice acting, art direction and story. Everything else is straight out of Fable 2 just done even worse.

Alan Wake on the other hand is fantastic. You should get that pronto!!!

You know ASSid I’m not sure if you ignorant or just stupid! When did bioshock release on PS3? Oh yeah thats right exactly a year because it was a timed exclusive later and when did Mass Effect come out on PS3? Oh wait it didn’t because it was a console exclusive only Mass Effect 2 is coming out on PS3 again a year later. The Darkness is the only game that came out about month later on the PS3 and buying that on PS3 would have been a stupid idea because at that time the PS3 was twice as expensive as the 360 for glorified blu ray player! No thank you, so its either your memory is very selective or you’re a Bakka!

My point ASSious is that eventually the always come to PS3 and both those games were on OC anyways so hardly exclusive!!! Go try and find other excuses why Xbox is better because it sure as hell isnt exclusives.

Have you seen the gaming and Zune capabilities of Windows Phone 7? Also the pricing of a Windows Phone 7 phone is cheaper than the equivalent Android phones with better hardware specs.

lolz AC!D: Aussious just meant that those games were, at that time, cheaper and earlier released. Think about it (just for example’s sake); if Black Ops was released on the Xbox 360 a year earlier than the PS3…….there is an obvious choice right there. And the PS3 was very, very expensive at that time, which was also a reason why I bought the Xbox first. :silly:
