Some very interesting news and information has come to light thanks to Microsoft’s Frank O’Connor who sat on a a panel at the Future of Television East Conference.

O’Connor seems to be very enthusiastic and motivated to get Halo onto as many screens as possible. He commented on the previous Halo movie project with Peter Jackson, saying that the movie is very hot property that a lot of people want to get their hands on, but in the end everything fell apart when lawyers and contracts were thrown into the mix.

More info after the jump.

He states that the major issue that the movie had, was the movie company was not happy that they couldn’t make any money further than the movie itself, as the franchise and complete rights are all owned by Microsoft.

He does however say very confidently that “There will be a Halo movie”.

He goes on later to also say that they feel that even though a movie will be great, there is a ton of potential in television, saying:

“We’d love to see Halo as a television series. Look what HBO did with Band of Brothers or even Rome. Something like that would work because the Halo universe is so vast.”

He does have a point, and I do think that with some smart minds, some great talent and a good budget there is no reason that a Halo TV series wouldn’t be absolutely phenomenal. Don’t believe me? Just watch any of the great Halo promotional videos that have been released over the last few year.
