While Sony didn’t announce anything truly exciting, that we didn’t already know, at GamesCom this week they easily trumped Microsoft’s exceptionally poor showing at the conference.
Unless I missed a second announcement the only things announced by Microsoft were
- Episodic content coming to Fable 2
- Fable 3 coming
- Milo not coming anytime soon
It’s a shame that Europe’s biggest gaming conference isn’t getting any Love from Microsoft and this will only play into Sony’s hands in their drive to secure Europe as their own.
Honestly Microsoft better be digging deep for the upcoming TGS else a lower priced PS3 + Uncharted 2 + GT5 is really going to storm the holiday season ahead.
Oh and what happened to the expected announcement of the Pro being discontinued… was the PS3 price cut larger than Microsoft expected and now they are scrambling?

There are so many gameshows around that it doesn’t make sense to shoot your load into one show. And as you said sony had nothing particularly interesting either. I’m not to bothered about the results of this conference, and I think E3 was a pretty monstrous announcement platform.

I’m inclined to agree. Before GamesCom Microsoft had even said they weren’t planning on announcing anything particularly revelatory.
I also think that MS is going to concentrate on wowing at TGS, as Japan is its weakest market.

Well no offence but E3 wasnt any better for MS awesome games they showcased at E3 (Im looking at you Splinter Cell) were just to make people excited … Just to delay it months later..
One one think they would of named some kind of hardware change on the 360 at gamescon aswel… Ah well guess they will end up 3rd when the PS3 launches.

Is this the end for the xbox? Will xbox owners finally realise that xbox live is a scam and that they’ve been bleeding money out of their wallets for a service that should actually be free? Will xbox owners gladly eat up the latest avatar marketplace nonsense or drool all over overpriced OLD games on Games on Demand? Will PS3 finally become the system to own? Will I finally buy a PS3? Check in next time on CONSOLE WARS EXTREME!!

With a reported 54% failure rate, I know I’m not supporting xbox 360 any more. I’ve gone through 4 xboxes already, but I have to give M$ some love, they did replace my last 3 with refurbished consoles  , the fact that I had to wait a month for each, I’m voting with my wallet from now on. If the PS3 slim can come in at a reasonable price, than I’m passing all my xbox games onto my cousin, and sticking with the PS3.

same here, had a bunch of what i call crapboxes. no more in future. and no more subscription to live. ps3 all the way. now just to get rid of the xbots that are buying ps3s then all will be well again

Same here. Up until a few months ago, I was also a rabid xbot. That changed after my 5th xbox red ringed. I’m still struggling to get it fixed. The realisation came, albeit very slowly, that I’m doing myself a disservice, after all it’s not like Microsoft will support me so vigorously.
I’m not sure I will buy a PS3 though. I think console gaming has been killed for me. I’m rather going to pump money into my PC gaming again. :pirate:

Fable 1 and 2 were just hyped to death. I really think Molyneaux should be muzzled. They weren’t bad games, but they weren’t brilliant either. I prefer Fable 1 to 2 though, but yeah..

The Molyneaux effect 😛
The real irony is that one day Peter might just create the greatest game of all time, but the media and consumer backlash will result in it becoming a fringe game, something only the most extreme Molyneauxite will appreciate. :pirate:
