I’ll admit, at the sake of my credibility, that I just don’t get Minecraft. I mean, I understand its ideas and while I truly believe that it’s a genius concept, I just don’t find it very fun. Apparently I’m very, very wrong though – because Minecraft, already a title that’s sold in the millions, has sold a million more.

Xbox Gamers have snapped up the digitally-downloaded title since its release as the last game of Microsoft’s “Arcade Next” promotion.

According to stats released by Microsoft, more than 1 000 000 digital copies of the world-building sandbox title have passed through Xbox Live Arcade’s digital store – which at its $20 price means a nice wad of cash that’ll be split between Mojang, Microsoft, and console porters 4J Studios.

Those million gamers have spent 5.2 million total online hours mining, building, and running the hell away from creepers. There’ve been 4 million total multiplayer sessions played, and more than 2.4 million multiplayer gaming hours played so far – all pretty impressive stats for a game where you really make your own experience.

Not convinced by the Minecraft for the Xbox 360? Check out or review, which’ll be up later today.
