Mirror's Edge suffers from terribly low sales

Mirror’s Edge is the latest title to come out of DICE studios and has been hailed and nailed for being incredibly or even overly innovative.

I spent quite a lot of time with the game over this last week and while the main storyline is pretty short, I found the experience to be quite breathtaking and the time trials a whole bunch of fun on their own. The game isn’t perfect but it got me quite excited at the thought of how much more can be done with the concept in future.

Problem is, I don’t know if I am ever going to find out. As you can see from the title, the first week of sales for Mirror’s Edge have been really bad.

How bad, you may ask? Reports have come in showing that in it’s first week in Europe, the game only managed to sell an embarrassingly low total of just on 30, 000 copies.

Now, even if you aren’t that clued in about game sales, it’s not hard to figure out that when a game only sells 30,000 copies in the whole of Europe, it has failed miserably. With so many big titles sitting on the shelves at the moment, it’s not that difficult to see why the sales are so low but it is still sitting significantly lower than what I had originally anticipated.

If you are interested in the game, I highly recommend that you try the demo first. I found it to be an exhilarating experience but at the same time, I could see why many other gamers might find it frustrating and strange.

Flameboy lol I agree. And,watch somebody improve this games concept, like Gears of War did with Killswitchs concept.but this game sucks. . .dont see why it got the hype. The graphics arnt bad,but its so terribly linear that you always want to expect more.Frankly, dropping Msft points on a game like the XBLA soul calibur would be more worth while.

I really don’t think that this was a bad game at all. Low sales doesnt mean the game is bad. Just look at all those terrible licensed games that sell so many copies, its all about marketing sometimes…

It’s a difficult game to position and saying something like “it’s a bit short” is a death sentence during the November rush.
