You can tap but you cannot touch

Thanks to cellular and mobile technology getting more advanced, Square Enix has been able to milk transport Final Fantasy onto a range of platforms. But these ports have generally been of the older games, and not of the more modern titles in the stable. Why? Blame a lack of mobile space for the fact that you can’t perform limit breaks on your iPad.

Speaking to Shacknews, series producer Takashi Tokita explained how storage requirements for those games were one of the primary culprits keeping them off of iOS and Android devices right now. “Unfortunately, it’s not that it’s not impossible for us to develop Final Fantasy 7 for mobile,” Tokita explained.

It’s that currently, space will be an issue. Phones won’t be able to contain the space it takes. It’s over a gigabyte. People are probably going to have to wait a few years.

Looks like you’ll have to wait a bit longer then to get not the best Final Fantasy, 7 (IT’S FINAL FANTASY 8, SHUT YOUR FACE!) on your tablet device. Oh well, at least we’ll have Final Fantasy 6 on our hardware soon.

I have to agree, 8’s story line is better and GF’s rule. Even thou Cloud’s sword kicks some serious ass n gun blade still wins me over 😛

True its very cool that it will be on a mobile…but I believe you will not get that Final Fantasy feel you get on a console. FF games are usually very complex systems that need a lot of coordination selection wise.

Also a gunblade limit break just feels “right” with the trigger on a controller 🙂

Not sure I understand this. My phone has 16 gigs, and it’s shit. My boets has 32, and it’s not. 4 disks doesn’t equate to 8 gigs!

I like how the laud this as being what’s stopping them.
But at the same time they say the work involved in redoing ffvii into current gen is just too much.

    Pick and argument sqeenix.
