More rumours of Beyond getting PS4 remaster

Beyond

Beyond: Two Souls, the overwrought sci-fi twaddle from David Cage is one of the PS3’s swansongs, joining The Last of Us and Gran Turismo as just about the last worthwhile exclusives released for the system. Like The Last of Us, it could be getting the remaster treatment.

Way back in April, rumours surfaced that the Ellen Page vehicle was ripe for a remaster, with illustrations of the game’s controls matched to a PlayStation 4 controller.

Now, those rumours have resurfaced thanks to listings for a remastered version of the game on not one, but two European websites. German retailers Alcom and World of Games have both listed Beyond: Two Souls for PS4 release.

One pegs the game for a September release, while the other has a far more vague 2014. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if it were true; Quantic Dream has a very long history of PlayStation love, and we know they’ve been quite actively involved with the PlayStation 4 and its development.

A remaster would also give newcomers to the PlayStation Side of life a chance to try out the game’s rather narrative bent. Yesterday, Sony said that The Last of Us was being remastered because a large number of PlayStation 4 owners are new to Sony – and those very same people would benefit from this remastered release.

I say benefit rather loosely though; while Beyond is one of the most visually impressive offerings on the PS3, it’s rather rubbish. It has great performances from its lead actors, and it’s more on an interactive experience than what you’d consider a game. The problem here is that when you’re so focused on the narrative, it had better be good – and Beyond’s story descends in to drivel.

honestly, if they’re going to port a Quantic Dream game to PS4, they should rather do Heavy Rain. or even the previous one, Fahrenheit, or even better a pack with both! 🙂

I wonder if they’ll use you guys for a quote in their trailer like Far Cry 4 did.

If you follow David Cage’s Mentalilty (More Polygons = Greater Emotion) The remaster will be much more impactful, and therefor a better game than the PS3 original.

Woah woah woah, Beyond was a swan song on PS3? Since fucking when? Reviews hardly had anything good to say, closest thing to a compliment was a comparison to heavy rain but thats about it. For a game that didnt do nearly as well as it should have, all star cast aside, this isnt a case of “for the gamers” as much as it is “for the pockets… of capitalist video game publishers”

But thats just cynical little me.

If it’s a bad game it won’t sell.

A game like TLOU has every right to be remastered, as does Beyond, with the only difference is that TLOU was a fan favourite and is pretty much guaranteed to make sales, Beyond does not have the same grounds to stand on, and it seems the rush to joining the remastered race seems to be a financially beneficial one as opposed to fan requests, which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’d prefer good games to be RM’d not just any old shit folk think they can squeeze a few extra bucks out of. Its insulting.

Also I do understand it sounds like I live in Narnia, maar ek staan by my punt.

Should this not sit in movie news? I am just asking cause the game had 15 mins tops of actual player controlled gameplay.

lol. yeah after reading many reviews after it’s release and even seeing the special edition going for cheap I still passed up on it (Heavy Rain, while “okay” was just too non-interactive for me to buy this one as an actual “game”).

Or how about a game that started/restarted a way of thinking in the RPG genre…

    Demon’s Souls.

PS4 has many great AAA games that gamers love. That’s why it’s 8.5+ million in sales and growing. Sony’s large number of well funded 1st parties will ensure PS4 has a ton of great AAA exclusives, as many or more than PS3.

PS4 has 36+ AAA games from July to December 2014, or 6 per month. 3rd party AAA games will be increasingly multiplatform on both consoles.

1st/2nd party studios include Japan Studio, Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, SCE Bend, SCE San Diego, SCE Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Pixel Opus, Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Games, Guerrilla Cambridge, SCE London, Media Molecule, Ready at Dawn, Quantic Dream, etc.

For some reason PS4 keeps selling like hotcakes despite attempts to downplay its library. All 3 consoles have good exclusive games, it’s only fanboys trying to trash one or the other and pretend it has “no gaems lolol”.
