Mortal Kombat X has permission to include Spawn

MK-Spawn

There’s a  bunch of characters that I’d dig to see in Mortal Kombat X. The rumour of the Predator joining the cast sounds ridiculously fun and perfect for the game, which has already featured the likes of Elm Street nightmare Freddy Krueger and the god of war Kratos in the previous iteration. One character that fans are keen to see however? Todd McFarlane’s infamous Spawn. And the creator of that cult character says that developer NetherRealm has access to Spawn. If they choose to use him, that is.

Speaking to GamerFitNation, McFarlane explained that NetherRealm still has a “window of time” to use Spawn, as McFarlane inked a deal with publisher Warner Bros Interaractive that would allow his comic book creation to cross on over to that universe.

“They have access to be able to use the character in a couple of their games, if they want to.”

Again, it’s up to their discretion. I gave them a window of time, so I’ll just leave it to them to do what it is that they want. Eventually, they’ll phone me and they’ll go, ‘Hey, we want to use him here. Is that OK?’ Well, technically, it’s OK because we’ve already said yes. They just are letting us know. I don’t know if they’re ever going to use him.

I doubt that we’ll see Spawn in the game anytime soon however. With around two months to go before release, creating a balanced and unique Spawn character with a unique moveset, three variable styles and fatalities, might be cutting it close. Of course, he could always pop up as a DLC character after launch, but again, that’s up to NetherRealm. If they’re even interested at all.

Personally, I’d dig to see Pee Wee Herman in the game. HA! FATALITY! That’s our secret word for the daaaaaaay! HA HA!

  1. Surely its a bit late now? Its like 2 months to go – put Spawn in now and you have a potential host of issues re: balancing.

Would it not make sense to include more MK characters instead of jumping franchises?

Some people get very upset when you resurrect fighting characters who supposedly died in a previous installment; personally couldn’t care less and given they have a rich heritage to pull from I would agree. But, I like the inclusion of characters from other games/media.

As long as it is not Yoda – what were the Calibur people thinking! I don’t even think Vader should have been in either but at least he is a little more scary than a pint sized Jedi (as awesome a Jedi as he is).

Doesn’t stop them from including the characters separate from the “story part” so to speak. You could have them as unlockable (Unlockable? I mean stupid DLC) that you can play with in classic arcade mode or something.

I know right! Wow, I nearly had a serious flashback to the Sega Megadrive days where you could unlock characters like Smoke and stuff by completing certain “achievements”. Heck they weren’t even called achievements back then. It was just… Play in this way and you get a secret character!

My money’s on Tinkerbell being a playable character…

      Her 3 move sets:
      Ballet
      Modern Dancing
      Fairy

And one of her fatalities will be sprinkling fairy dust on her opponent, who then transforms into Peter Pan and is banished to Never Never Land… Where they will never fight again (which is like hell for any true MK fighter!).

Where is Rince – he will love this post. I like movies but they pretty much all s**t nowadays – Lucy for example was a BIG PILE OF POOH!!!.

      I have yet to see…drumroll:

      Guadians of the Galaxy
      Any Iron Man movies
Any Spider Man movie in last 10 or so years
      New Superman

I did see Thor (1st one) and enjoyed it…otherwise nada. And I have kept up to date on Batman movies.

But Spawn movie would be cool; my question is when does the bubble burst for comic book movies, if at all?

Well I haven’t bothered with Lucy.
Guardians of the Galaxy was very cliche, but it was a fun movie. I’ve already watched it twice.
First Iron Man was great, the rest were terrible.
Tobey McGuire Spider-Man was alright, though he made a terrible Peter Parker – I don’t remember the Peter Parker from the comics being an idiot.
The Amazing Spider-Man is not amazing, but it’s not bad either – though they try to push way too much into a single movie.
Thor was good yes. Second was also.
Original Spawn movie is commendable for trying and although it wasn’t great, it stayed rather true to the animated movie, to an extent. But they could do much much better.

Maybe, because it’s based on a ‘main stream successful book’ (made popular, as far as I can tell, by the Twilight generation), a ton of people are taking that as meaning, “Hey, let’s go watch porn on the big screen – it’s the right thing to do. And it’s making money, so it must be good”.

I am sure it is going to be great but games like that I cannot play as much as others e.g. DA Inquisition. Personally I can play them in fits and starts, get drawn in, love them, but to play that type doesn’t get me as excited as something like a Halo, Borderlands, etc. To each there own.

But it will be added to the collection 🙂

            Very true.
I’m less of the action action kind, more of the “look at the pretty mountains” kind.
So I like the open world, slow progress games. 😉
