Mortal Kombat X PC specs revealed

Mortal Kombat X is on my list of must-play titles this year, and for good reason. What we’ve seen of the brutally gory fighter so far looks incredible, and just what a next-generation Mortal Kombat game should look like. Environments and characters alike are bursting with gorgeous detail – so what kind of toll will it take on your PC?

As one would expect with a primarily 1v1 fighter, you won’t need a ridiculous mount of power to get things running on PC. The graphics card requirements are extremely low for minimum specifications, and hit around the mid-range market with recommended. Curiously, both sets of specs require a fair amount of CPU power – with an i7 listed as requirement for recommended settings.

MINIMUM:

  • OS: 64-bit: Vista, Win 7, Win 8
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz | AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz
  • Memory: 3 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 | AMD Radeon HD 5850
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: 64-bit: Win 7, Win 8
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz | AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 | AMD Radeon HD 7950
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 40 GB available space

It’s odd to see two different HDD requirements on listings such as these, although the Dying Light featured the same. The larger, 40GB size could account for the games future DLC and not represent the actual size at launch. There’s little else to explain the massive difference, unless a setting for higher resolution textures exists. The memory requirement for minimum specifications is also redundant, since the game will require a 64-bit operating system. That means you’re looking at a minimum of 4GB regardless, so forget about the 3GB listed.

Otherwise, it doesn’t look too bad. Remember that Mortal Kombat (and fighting games in general) are at their best when they’re played at the highest framerate possible. So keep a locked 60FPS in mind when deciding whether your PC can handle this or not.

I think “GRRRHGFJSBFMSDHNCINUDNCKJD” is a more accurate assumption of what he’s saying.

My PC can’t even run Sims 4. Then again, I don’t like PC gaming.

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen a vid like this today, different “interviews” but obviously same video. Wtf is up with this? Why is this even popular? It’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen on the internet this week.

hahaha, I actually don’t dislike it. I dislike being told I owe the creator my gratitude, when FF was not much more than a passing game for me. It was cool, but nothing to write home about.

Does an i7 really make a significant difference in gaming performance, because from what I’ve read it really doesn’t; especially when taking the pricing difference into account?

It definitely doesn’t. A modern i5 is more than enough for gaming purposes. Which makes it even more strange that an i7 is listed

Anyone see Conan O’Brien’s latest “Clueless Gamer” vid featuring MKX? We finally get to see some of the fatalities in all their glory (not cutting off half-way like the character reveals so far). And DAMN! They are some brutal Fatalities!! And I love it!!! 🙂
