Mortal Kombat X is coming next month, and as you know, we’re all rather excited to bash some heads in and rip out intestines. When we’re done with that, we’d also like to play some Mortal Kombat. 20 of the apparently set cast of 25 base characters have been revealed as playable to date – and one of my perpetual  favourites, the Tarkatan warrior Baraka is not one of them. In a batch of fresh screenshots (via Eventhubs), there appears to be a warrior who looks a heck of a lot like him…or like any other Tarkatan. Is Baraka in Mortal Kombat X?

It looks like it! Or it could just end up being a generic warrior for the hero to face up against in the game’s expansive story mode. Also seen in the screenshots? Erron Black, Shinnok, Goro and Jax. You may notice a complete lack of Liu Kang, who’s only been shown as a statue – which makes me sad, as I may soon owe Darryn some cash.

To recap, here’s the list of confirmed characters:

  • Scorpion
  • Sub-Zero
  • D’Vorah
  • Kotal Kahn
  • Ferra/Torr
  • Raiden
  • Cassie Cage
  • Kano
  • Ermac
  • Reptile
  • Kitana
  • Kung Lao
  • Quan Chi
  • Jacqueline Briggs
  • Takashi Takeda
  • Kung Jin
  • Johnny Cage
  • Sonya Blade
  • Mileena
  • Goro(DLC pre-order bonus)
  • Jason Voorhees(DLC)

The guys are almost certainly confirmed as playable:

  • Jax Briggs
  • Kenshi
  • Shinnok

These guys are looking more than likely to be confirmed:

  • Erron Black
  • Baraka

This lot have been seen in the game’s story trailers and cut-scenes, or as statues:

  • Rain
  • Sindel
  • Smoke
  • Nightwolf
  • Fujin
  • Stryker
  • Kabal
  • Liu Kang
  • Shang Tsung
  • Shao Kahn

The following characters are hinted at, or rumoured to be coming:

  • Cyrax
  • Sector
  • Bo’ Rai Cho
  • Tanya
  • Reiko
  • Tremor
  • Predator
  • Spawn

    here is a theory…
I think Kitana has been resurrected as the rightful heir to the throne. She is seen with glowing eyes in the story mode trailer where cassie is fighting Sindel.

According to all the media present right now i.e comics videos etc… there is a civil war going on within outworld with Mileena and Kotal at the opposing sides. Shouldn’t Kitana be like fighting for her throne when she is the RIGHTFUL heir to the throne?
I think that some resurrections are going to come into play, sure some have already come back like Jax for unknown reasons while others like Jade are now just a memory in Mk’s history. Yeah I think Kitana will be brought back from the dead to take back the throne.

PS; WHERE is Liu Kang Netherrealm? don’t go skipping that guy now.

Not sure bout Cage’s look.Hope de boss aint that big green character coz he looks pretty lame.Chics look good. Is Jax a white guy now? Can’t wait to test out Kenshi’s new moves…Hopefully they didn’t stray too far from the old ones.
