Evolution studios, the guys who developed MotorStorm, has been sold to Sony for $32 million. So while Sony don’t buy exclusivity they do buy studios to ensure exclusivity 😉
Anyway to me this looks like a great deal seeing as Microsoft is reported to have paid over $50 million just for episodic GTA content. MotorStorm has been constantly acclaimed as one of the best PS3 games around and the inevitable sequel is already in the works.
However, in what I feel is a bad move from Sony, co-founders Kenwright and Hetherington have both left the company in the wake of this buyout. So in essence Sony has paid for the IP and not for the main brains behind the development house.
