MS Screwed It's Own Reps? We call BS.

A rep from Microsoft has complained that Microsoft has completely screwed a lot of them over by releasing the NXE update, which was rumoured to start causing RROD’s, right after the time that a lot of customers 3 year RROD warranties had ended.

Apparently the update has been causing a lot of issues for users and caused the MS service lines to explode with calls of complaint. The rep from Microsoft had the following to say:

“I hate what the company did this year,”

“They released the New Xbox Experience a few days after the extended warranty period ended for most users and it’s tough to explain that to raging callers. How do you say that MS just screwed them all?”

The only problem with all of this, is that this so called “rep” is talking an absolute heap of crap.

More after the break

The truth is that the 3 year warranty for the launch of the Xbox 360 is the 22nd of November. That’s tomorrow. The second problem is that even if it were true, the warranty would only have ended for any of the consumers who bought the Xbox 360 on launch day. Regardless of purchase dates, it’s all a huge lie because as stated first, the three year anniversary of the Xbox 360 launch in the US is only tomorrow.

This story is getting a crazy amount of attention on the internet and we can’t really figure out how the whole thing hasn’t been spotted as a complete sham. To make matters worse, I went into the N4G comments thread to see if anyone had brought it up but the fanboys were so busy shouting and screaming about their PS3’s and Xbox 360’s that no one actually bothered to notice that the facts didn’t add up.

  1. I really dont believe that the NXE can cause a RRoD on your 360. If it just happends after installing the NXE then its purely coicidence really. If this so called NXE is the cause of th RRoD then why arent all consoles expierencing it. I think is a person (Probably a Sony Fanboy trying to boicott MS really)

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t RROD “hardware failure” due to some chip overheating? How will a software update force the chip to overheat?

The NXE surely won’t cause so much increase strain on the system that it would cause an overheat… ❓

The NXE update cant cause the RRoD anymore than any other software.

The RRoD is caused by heat issue, and component-level problems – it is TOTALLY software independant.

The stories on N4G are just traffic-trolling garbage. From blorge, blogspot and other worthless fansites.

    Just ridiculous.

Everyone was so damn impressed with the nxe that they played and fiddled for long periods of time causing the console to overheat… then they were to embarrased to admit their stupid mistake ,and thus blamed all powerfull MS

Respect guys atleast im not the only one seeing this. Thats why I have a huge fan next to my xbox to prevent my xbox from over heating. I wonder how MS must be laughing to these acutations. next they’ll say its the HDD causing the RRoD too. Its the damn GPU overheating and that causes to melt the soldering and screw everything up. I even red this one guy opened his Xbox after using the Towel trick and founded that his Motherboard melted and formed in a diamond like shape aswel.

software can have a major impact on hardware. the controls for fans, sensors and a most other things which are directly controlled by software.
at any rate its too early to say if there’s a direct influence and even then ms will have to admit it… which of course they wont.

again, all you guys saying hardware and software are two different things, really need look at how hardware is managed.
firmware is just another bios which CAN break hardware if incorrectly setup.

We talking about the user interface here, not the drivers – I highly doubt that a company like Microsoft would go out of their way to create an update that will cause your xbox to meltdown and force you to buy new ones (after costing them a bundle answering tech problem calls). The business model does not aim to make money from the console – it’s the games that bring in the cash and they want your console working.

no for sure they wouldn’t, but bugs do sometimes creep in.
i’m not saying there’s any foul play what-so-ever, just maybe an over sight.

Every week on this site I read how every game is better on 360. How the game play is better and how the graphics are better and how the PS3 is over prices.

But I think I stick with my Ps3. I would rather look at worse graphics than a RRoD.

Wow, fanboys are worthless no matter what brand they cater to. To try to say that there is no way that the NXE could brick a 360 is ridiculous, just as it is to say that it is absolutely the cause. All i know is that a lot of 360 owners are having some major probs right now, and a lot of you are writing it off b/c you can’t cope with the fact that your favorite hardware is marred with problems. Like with what Wolfy said “Thats why I have a huge fan next to my xbox to prevent my xbox from over heating. I wonder how MS must be laughing to these acutations. next they’ll say its the HDD causing the RRoD too.” You think the MS execs should be able to laugh it off? Why? B/c they sold us a second rate peice of shit? why should I have to make sure I keep a fan next to it, a fucking PC doesn’t need a fan next to it. Well enough venting I’ll take solace in knowing that your 360 will be red ringing soon…
