MSI reveals the world’s thinnest 17 inch gaming laptop

Even though I know I’ll most likely have my kneecaps broken with an old Pentium 486 PC in a dark alley for admitting that I love gaming laptops, it’s still worth posting this. MSI Computer Corp has a new mobile gaming platform on the way, and that laptop happens to be thinner than Pep store-brand toilet paper.

The GS70 is a 17 inch beast that happens to be just .85 inches thin. That’s pretty damn svelte, considering that the laptop happens to be packing an Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M card and a fourth generation Intel Core i7 processor.

The GS70 will be out in 750GB and 1TB models as well, costing gamers $1799 and $1999 respectively. Both models share the same features though, such as three audio jacks, a 720p HD camera and 16GB of DDR3L RAM. And all of that, in a package that weighs just 2.5 KG.

That’s pretty damn impressive overall, although when it comes to a lack of girth, Razer has MSI beat with their 14 inch Blade laptop that happens to be even thinner – but has 3 inches less screen real estate.

  1. That’s an awesome looking machine, but that price!

I’ve always considered gaming laptops the equivalent of someone 6’6″ & 120kg driving a Mini.

Considering how he’d have to fold himself into the car, he could probably give himself head 😛

I own a “gaming” laptop, because of the high speed it offers in other aspects.

It is 17 inch and weighs over 4kg. It is big and heavy, that is main drawback.

And the price, yes, the price.

Hmm, my i7 is not fourth gen, I wonder if……..

Well, minus a screen, why not just take the dollar and build an ITX system? Its portable and you get more bang for your buck. Never seen the point of gaming laptops anyways.

Well, if I could afford one, I would it in a heartbeat. My home PC was outdated and I needed a new gaming rig, but also needed to buy a new laptop for work. So got a laptop with a decent graphics card in and it plays games well enough. Saves having 2 PC’s that can do the damn same thing 🙂

Makes sense, but usually for me at least I need ot keep my work stuff separate from home stuff, and theres no joy in trying to play on a machine thats had its drives truecrypted to the max :/ I do understand where you coming from though. Just irks me that the cost is TOO DAMN HIGH

Yeah, that is a shit situation. Best believe if I had enough money, I’d have a gaming rig at home and a gaming laptop for travel 🙂

Sager makes a 13 inch laptop that is lighter, equal graphics capabilities, and $900 cheaper. Unless thin is all you care about, stay away.
