If there’s one thing missing from the current crop of Naruto games, it’s variety. Previous Ultimate-Ninja-this-title-is-too-damn-long-super-shinobi-storm-jutsu games at least tried to throw something new at players, even if it didn’t always work out. And in Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, the shinobi are going to an all new tournament
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution will include four player (Or is that ninja) mêlée battles, that will see players throw their team into the fray against three CPU-controlled opponents. According to the Namco Bandai press release, Ninja World Tournament mode can only be won by collecting the required amount of battle orbs.
How do you get those orbs? Why by punching, flame-jutsuing and Rasengan attacking your way through the opposition of course. This is a fighting game after all. Battles have time limits, and the team with the most Battle Orbs at the end of the match wins. So kind of like of football, only this time the pain is real and not a desperate attempt by the players to convince judges that they deserve an Oscar award for their acting.
Battles are also available in a tier-format, with teams working their way up to S-class encounters throughout the tournament. Also, there’s a Mecha-Naruto that players can face. Stark tech Naruto? Yeah, this makes very little sense to me as well, but I’ll roll with it.
Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. I’m banking on using my Friendship jutsu to win all the online matches, because a decade of every single anime in the last ten years can’t be wrong about the power of having friends to win in life.
IF I HAD ANY!
