Nathan Drake is looking good in Uncharted 4

Uncharted

A few years can make a big difference in your appearance. It can make you look more mature, trustworthy and responsible. In my case, it can send more people than usual running away and screaming. I really do need to get a more contemporary haircut. After a four year gap, Nathan Drake returns in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End next year. And man, time has been kind to him.

Over the weekend at the PlayStation Experience, proper gameplay footage for Uncharted 4 was shown off, that had extra details in the foliage, character and skiet die bliksem departments. It also showed an older Nathan Drake, who was somehow still as limber as the entire Jamaican Olympic limbo team.

And that new model, looks massively different. With new hardware comes new software, that bumps up the polygon, shaders and other thingamabobs that I’m woefully underqualified to talk about. So I’ll just sell on the idea, using some pictures.

Sweet Christmas, that is detailed. We’re getting closer and closer to making the uncanny valley syndrome of video gaming that little bit smaller. And we’re still in the early days of this console generation as it is. But seeing little details, like proper stubble, more realistic clothing and actual aging, shows how far the industry has come.

Check out the hour-long documentary below as well, where the Naughty Dogs discuss the making of the game thus far. It’s quite fascinating it is.

  1. That’s the most realistic and least-uncanny(?) game character I’ve ever seen. Think he might be prettier than JJ! 😛

Had to go back and read through the comments. Didn’t know it had blown up like that. I must say entertaining to go through all of them. It was a good heated debate which turned a little bit nasty but that’s what the comment section is for.

True, it’s just that recently I’ve noticed there’s been a few too many heated threads, so I’ll rather make a conscious effort to keep a level-head.

Thanks for trying to make me feel better though 😉

And yet again you try and compare Lara and Drake, and everyone who played both the last time around will tell you that Drake is still king!! Lara got better, but she is not even close to Drake yet… But we can have this discussion for the whole of 2015…

Oh yeah, we might miss out on Tomb Raider. Whatever will we do? If only a similar game existed *Snickers*

Game of the year 2015… The rest might as well just delay their releases another year, at least then 2016 will be a fair fight for the GOTY title!!

The Witcher 3 will slice Drake into two pieces anyday for GOTY.

One thing for sure, I will be buying a PS4 when this comes out ;-)~

Instead of writing pretty reviews hoping to score a free copy maybe try being real journalists.

SO keen for this game!! Naughty Dog at their best, as always. 🙂

By the way – anyone who’s watched the trailer, do you think some of the baddies had Saffa accents? I watched the trailer a few times, just to be sure, and I’m almost positive some of them are supposed to have our accent (similar to Far Cry 2). Dunno – what y’all think?

Yup, it’s us. We’re the bad guys. Only way if this could have been better is if Shartlo Copley was like Vaas, the main bad guy in the game.

Lol. We’re always the bad guys… Apparently the world sees us as just a country full of highly trained mercs! 😉
