Some great news for all of us that have a Playstation 3 (and about damn time if I do say so myself).
It is all but officially confirmed from Sony that the next firmware update for the PS3 is finally going to get cross game chat, which is a feature that many people have been waiting for for just about forever.
The rumors turned into reality when a Naughty Dog developer “ReklissAbandon” on the US Playstation Blog mistakenly let slip on multiplayer thread that it was coming.
“I think they wanted people to have fun and ejoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on.
But I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions.”
Whoops, someones in a lot of doo-doo. Great news for us though, isn’t it?

How’s your free XBL going. oh yeah it’s not.
Once Sony sorts out this X-game chat then what else is does XBL offer?
I’m not trying to take a stab at XBL i’m just wondering. (please don’t mention facebook and twitter)

I play both PSN and XBL but PSN just seems like a baron wasteland compared to XBL. When me and a couple of friends want to play online, we just create a party and continue chatting while changing disks and loading the games.
$50 a year is realy trivial. How much is $50 compared to the amount you spend a year on games?

I guess for me the PSN doesn’t seem like a wasteland because my group of friends have PS3’s and not Xbox’s. I do find it very cool that you guys can do all of that while chatting and i really wish i could do that with my ps3 buddies. but still once cross game chat is working then all that is needed is a PSN party system and well your $50 is for no extra features…

Can you send cross-game invites on PSN?
What I usualy do is I go onto my friends list and see what they are playing. If I want to join the COD4 game my friends are playing, I just say join game on their gamertag.

The 8 player party chat on XBL is the best IMHO,
You can all be in the same, or in entirely different games, and still chat, or instantly join any friends game, and if you like have the entire party join a game.
I’ve stopped socialising with ‘real’ people since that launched.

a person with a mic taped to the side of his/her face, and has not seen the light of day since 1986

I think a “real” person has a job and maintain a steady relationship with a person of the opposite sex and play Wii Fit.
We on the other hand do stuff like eat Pronutro for dinner, sleep during the day and wage the console war. :alien:

But that only applies to WoW players….

I think WoW players have their Moms bring their Pronutro, dont sleep at all and are way to busy fighting the ‘real’ war waging in their home world, Azeroth, to care about the console wars

Yes! Finally Sony will include the cross game chat feature, was waiting for a long time for that and thought it was going to be available on the firmware version 3.00. While we pay nothing for our online services (except our internet bandwidth) i see much more value in PSN than XBL.
