Naughty Dog’s putting everything else on ice for Uncharted 4

Rumours of a sequel to Naughty Dogs’ The Last of Us have been around since just after the game’s original release. With the game being the monumental critical and commercial success it is, a sequel is pretty much guaranteed. That said, you probably shouldn’t expect any information on a sequel any time soon. In fact, Naughty Dog’s Bruce Straley asserts that a sequel is still hypothetical. Apart from that, the developer’s focusing entirely on Uncharted 4.

“We’re 110 per cent in Uncharted 4 territory now,” Straley said, speaking to Game Informer. “Blinders on, make this awesome.”

He doesn’t deny that there’s quite a demand for a sequel to The Last of Us, but Uncharted has to take priority at the moment.

“We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well. We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we’ve brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4.”

The Last of Us went on to sell over a 6 million copies – and that’s discounting the PlayStation 4 remaster. Do you think The Last of US should have a sequel? Or do you think it should stop where it did, especially with that ending (no spoilers!). Let us know!

The Last of Us felt like a complete experience when I finished it, just as it felt when I finished watching Breaking Bad and The Shield. I think it should just be left alone.

I love Naughty Dog and think they develop excellent games on a super consistent basis. And I’m a HUGE fan of TLOU. But, if they make a sequel, I hope it’s something worth jumping back into and not simply done “because they can”… The original definitely felt complete. Maybe a story set in the world, but focusing on new characters? That would work, but it better be a great story – they have helluva big shoes to fill.

I’m 50/50 on this one. Sequels tend to be less epic than the first installment but then again, I loved TLOU so much that I would love to experience it again. Much like with the God of War franchise… even though the later games sucked a bit, it was still highly satisfying having another adventure as Kratos. I do believe that Naughty Dog is more than capable of not messing it up and will put in the necessary effort to make it equally epic. I’m glad they focus their attention on one game instead of making half assed games like some of the other developers

What would the sequel be called even? The lastest of us? The last of me? The last of us: the missing 20 years? LOL

Agreed, they cannot make a TLOU sequel. They CAN and should make a Jak and Daxter sequel.

I would love to see TLOU multiplayer expanded. Most people haven’t played it, but it was the most original multiplayer I’ve ever seen. The story was also amazing but maaaaan did it drag on towards the end. I was stuck in the underground after you see the giraffes for hours… Damn clickers
