NBA Jam HD News Keeps Getting Better

It looks like EA have finally realised that most people interested in the NBA Phoenix they’ve resurrected from the ashes want it in HD – and they don’t want it to be a gimped version, missing content from the lead Wii version.

NBA Jam, originally supposed to be a pack-in title with NBA Elite, is going to be a standalone downloadable game. And now it looks like it’ll be getting the once Wii exclusive remix tour mode as well.

"I’ll tell you, we’re doing everything in our power to get as much on there as possible. I mean, we had online up. It was a really basic online feature set. We’re trying to blow that out. And then you get Remix. We’re trying to throw it all in there," said the game’s Creative Director Trey Smith on a Canadian radio station.

"And its really up to you [which version you buy]," Smith said. "If you want to hang out with your friends and use gesture controls, you got it on the Wii. If you want to go online and you want that HD experience, you go on the PS3/360."

There is a slightly ominous air about this all though. It may lead to the game becoming a full, disc-based retail release. There’s no way EA would release it as a $50 retail game on the Wii, and the same content, only in higher-definition, as a $15 downloadable game; it just makes no sense. Fleshing the title out may also point to its now delayed intended parent game, NBA Elite 11, being cancelled entirely.

I cant wait!!! If it is full price though and a disc release then ill force myself to wait. Im not paying full price for a game that was meant to be a $15 PSN/XBL game at most.
