In an interview with Great Fall Tribune, Neversoft Entertainment co-founder and president Joel Jewett has confirmed long-standing rumours that they will not be developing the next Tony Hawk game, stating that "it’s time for someone else to add fresh ideas." Development reins have apparently been handed to Robomondo, a new start-up comprised of former EA Chicago and Studio Gigante employees. Neversoft have of course been keeping themselves busy with a game of one-upmanship with former Guitar Hero, current Rock Band developers Harmonix.

The next game in the Tony Hawk series, alluded to in leaked market research will have players "…put down the controller, step on the board, and feel the sensation of going big. … Shift your weight to turn and balance grinds, kick back on the tail of the board to ollie, and lean into airs to pull off huge spins."
This is starting to sounds awfully like the Ill-fated Skate-It, which uses the Wii-fit balance board to emulate a skateboard. Great, another game that’ll make me look ridiculous while playing it.

As it’ll no doubt ship with an accelerometer based accessory of some sort, it’s starting to sound expensive. With the release of the sequel to EA’s excellent Skate on the horizon, one wonders if Activision should even bother.
