You know, I really don’t want to get excited for Gran Turismo 5. I really don’t, not until I have a solid local release date in front of me.

I have been a massive fan of the GT series since the first one blew us all away on the first Playstation, and have also become incredibly good at completely blocking out games that are making me wait forever, namely GT5 and Diablo III.

I have a problem though. These new videos have just hit home, and made me realise that I want Gran Turismo 5, and I want it now. I did a little bit of rummaging around the internet to find some extra videos, so check them out after the jump.

It’s coming along very nicely indeed.

While ur in purgatory i have collected essential bits of information you might find handy

The 6 reasons to hate forza 3

    1.

Not too long ago Dan Greenwalt, Forza director for Turn 10 stated, “I’m in this industry because of Gran Turismo, let’s just be frank,” he explained that Gran Turismo inspired him to get into cars, leading to his first performance car purchase.

Then things started going downhill when he stated:

So, props to Kazunori Yamauchi-san and the PS1 team – that said, I feel that he’s passed us the baton. Perhaps he hasn’t meant to, but we have taken the genre to new levels and they’ve stopped evolving the genre. So again, tremendous respect to him, but I’d say the differentiator is they’re old school. The emperor’s naked, and I don’t want to, you know, I don’t want to slap him around, but no game competes [with] us right now.

    2.

Then at E3, Greenwalt made another controversial remark that really wasn’t received well in the video gaming community.

    He said:

We watched the Sony press conference and we were like, OK so we just brought what we believe firmly is the best racing game ever made, and our competition didn’t show up. So now you can see why I’m fairly bullish. I hate to sound so cocky but the truth is the stars have aligned. I don’t know how else to say it.

    3.

Then there was the CNET Poll bribery incident which caused some raised eyebrows. CNET ran a poll as to which race SIM will be the best between GT5 and Forza 3, and Turn 10 studios started bribing forum readers with an offer to receive a free Forza DLC car if you voted for Forza 3.

CNET writer Antuan Goodwin was so disgusted with Turn 10, the poll was shut down. After closing the poll Goodwin wrote, “After numerous complaints of cheating and in-game content being offered as payment for votes, I’ve decided to close the poll. Way to ruin the fun for the rest of us, guys.” You can still check out the comparison videos on CNET’s story here.

I have to say this act did have video game journos in the industry shaking their heads.
    4.

During E3, developers from Polyphony Digital came over to the Forza booth to check out Forza 3 and admire Turn 10’s work. Turn 10’s Che Chou then became a bit cocky and posted on his Forza blog stating that the Gran Turismo franchise has become “stagnant.” Wow, what a great way to return the respect Polyphony Digital showed Turn 10 at E3.
    5.

In a recent interview Greenwalt stated, “I play a lot of racing games, including PC racing games and I have not seen anything that is even within years of what we’re delivering here.” Greenwalt pretty much bashed every racing studio out there by implying Forza 3 is years ahead of everyone else. I can see that he is trying to be modest here because after all no one would ever makes that claim unless its generally accepted.
    6.

Here is the kicker that has everyone in the industry talking – a Turn 10 employee bashed Gran Turismo on NeoGAF posturing as a fanboy. Apparently, Dan M. a Turn 10 producer and Microsoft employee created an account and went on to NeoGAF pretending to be a fanboy and started bashing Gran Turismo. A NeoGAF moderator quickly replied back to Dan stating:

If you’re going to make posts like this – you shouldn’t sign up for a GAF account with your Microsoft corporate email. Seriously.

One thing you can’t deny is that NeoGAF moderators are on the ball. Remember when Dennis Dyack was quickly dealt for bashing NeoGAF?

The point I want to make is that the Forza series is great. I really don’t see the need for these antics from the folks at Turn 10. If the folks at Polyphony Digital are showing respect to Turn 10, equally show them the same kind of respect instead of bashing them as soon as their backs are turned. Studio competition is great and healthy by all means as it raises the bar, but a certain level of respect and professionalism needs to be kept. Forza 3 is already shaping up to be a top notch game with the first review score from OXM France giving it a 9.5/10.

How is Forza 3 shaping up to be a top notch game? It’s out already?

And a real question for you here Lans, so that everyone can understand:

Do you post like this because you love Gran Turismo, or hate Forza 3?

Haven’t we already told you about copy-pasting other people’s articles? that’s pretty disrespectful to the writer, if you ask me.

You need only post the links.

Ians you just look like a GT5 Fan boy because that’s what fan boys do. Criticize the competition to unlimited extent, I got Forza 3 and I will still get GT5 because Having one is just not enough.

Same as asking whether you’d have a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Hell, why not both!

Seems like the guys from Forza was right, GT 5 is still not released and look to be released more than a year after forza –

Just maybe it is because GT5 developers needed time to get to the level of Forza.
