New information for ShopTo.net customers

Okay small update on the current ShopTo.net story.

I have been in contact with Antony from ShopTo.net to try and get to the bottom of the current rumour that ShopTo.net are no longer shipping to South Africa and there is some good and bad news.

ShopTo.net have confirmed that they have blocked all new South African clients from signing up for their service due to an unacceptable level of missing packages, however for the moment they are not going to cancel existing users accounts unless that user has submitted multiple missing parcel claims.

Also users who have a credit with ShopTo.net will be allowed to spend that credit or request a full refund and they have guaranteed that no one will lose out on any money.

Personally I take this as confirmation that they have been taken for a ride by unscrupulous individuals either through planned fraudulent activity or simply individuals profiteering of ShopTo.net’s generosity.

Either way it’s another sad day for local gamers.

But all hope is not lost, we have some awesome local retailers who would be more than happy to fill the void left by ShopTo.net’s departure. Feel free to leave a link to your favoured online retailer in the comments section below.

Let me put in a good word for Zaps – they try to keep their prices down and give you decent trade-in prices for games, which helps stretch your Rands a bit. Also, Take 2 and Kalahari and the many sales they offer.

But the problem isn’t the retailers, it’s the jackasses at SK and MI Digital. :cwy:

The local retailers are great, but still expensive compared to shopto. I got KZ2 from them for R450 all in and it took just 5 working days to get here.

Luckily i am on their system and have never had a missing parcel. I look forward to using them again.

    Thanks for the update.

I’ll keep importing as there is no way I’m paying local prices, unless it’s secondhand.

Besides being expensive, local shops don’t have stock of some of the more popular games :dizzy:

OK so shopto screwed my, they refunded my top up account without me even requesting it. So this means that I won’t be able to buy from them again.

Just because one game out of 7 order got lost I’m also considered as a fraudster in requesting a replacement. WTF

Just for the record I received my second copy of SFIV and the 1st one ordered is still missing.

Well at least I got my top up back.

Ok now I see that I haven’t been refunded my Top up account balance is 0 and had something like 43 pounds in my Top up account.

Anyone else received any refunds? How long will they take to refund us?

What a load of crap I have an item that’s listed to be in The Republic of South Kora and the other is in “Brazil”.
I have checked both with the local post office and both have not arrived within 72 hours of my order.
So what I’m the on legitimate claim so I must suffer.

It’s the bastards at customs and the post offices that steal the packages here in SA! That’s why Amazon also don’t ship to SA any more unless you use a courier.
