Those who’ve played any of Bethesda’s games running on Gamebryo would know that one of the engine’s biggest shortcomings would be its inability to correctly render human faces. People sort of look like people; if those people were wearing ghastly rubber masks of themselves. Fallout 3 and New Vegas had marginally better looking people, but only just.
The new engine though, the one that powers Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim, seems capable of rendering human faces; quite attractive ones, even though they still seem to be stuck somewhere in the uncanny valley. I’m rather hopeful that the animation is leagues ahead as well – and that Bethesda hires more than three voice actors this time around.
Skyrim will be available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in November, and has a lot of people very, very excited.
