New Sonic Game in 2010 – and it’s 2D!

Hey SEGA fans! Do you have fond memories of playing Sonic the Hedgehog on your Mega Drive back in the days when Sonic games were actually good? Are you filled with chagrin, petulance and vitriol at the way your favourite blue spiny mammal is being handled in his less than mediocre 3D incarnations? how could you not be? They made him a in to sword-carrying human-kissing were-hog thing.

Sega have finally – after years of fan request – decided to make a new 2-Dimensional sonic game that looks to take the series back to its halcyon glory days. The game currently has the development monicker of “Project Needlemouse,” which for those of you not fluent in Ninja is the direct transliteration of the Japanese name for Hedgehog. Details are incredibly scant – the only information we have at the moment is that it’s a 2D Sonic game coming in 2010.

Does anybody actually still care about Sonic the Hedgehog?
